Golf

Obviously depending on wind , i generally take driver and aim at the top bunker with a draw , usually leaves a 9 or wedge , if the flags red it’s on that small back tear , so at least 2 extra clubs . If it’s white always play long as it will funnel back down . It’s better to be a bit right of the tee as left gets u blocked out . Pretty simple really .

A bloke who plays with Graham Bond all the time hold a shot from 150 for birdie when I was on the green one day , it landed on the hill left and funneled back around into the hole
OK. Driver it is. Often the draw turns into a hook though....

I imagine some of the old boys wouldn't be able to clear the gully off the back tee, and if it's into a headwind they would be in serious trouble.

The majority of golfers don’t get across the gully of the black tees

Geez battle royale going on right now between Minjee and Alison Lee for the BMW in South Korea. Big event. Some great golf.

Alison Lee is a very tough golfer. Minjee is too.

Great win by very local amateur Phoenix Campbell in the Queensland PGA Championship yesterday. Good kid. Should have got a run in the Asia Pacific Amateur last week being the Riversdale Cup winner this year. Just missed out. (Towelled up those donkeys that did play in it yesterday.)

Homa and Thomas playing in Sth AFrica this week? Unusual to see the better yanks there. Homa comes across as a very likeable dude.

The leader a Thai golfer drove into tiger country, off the tee on 16, I've seen a couple of elephants in there. No problem for him though, he's gone in with a D10 to give himself a swing.

The Greenies would be up in arms over here.

Controversy….

Just a tad.
What the hell was going on there ? Ridiculously trying to find a way to play a clearly unplayable ball, a rules official who looked less than confident, and then an eternity to play the shot which, beyond what the Thai player was trying to do, was also unfair to Smith and Campbell.

Farcical.

Agree, I don't think Smith or Campbell will be sharing a Singha with him in the 19th.

Well, she’s on now !
Yep, the final group are all square on 18. Smith has been all over the shop off the tee on the back nine, looks like he mightn't been able to aim for the pin with his 2nd shot.

I hope Campbell wins.

Homa looking like the winner in SA. Likeable guy, happy for him. Great to see a yank travelling to SA to play.

Would love to see Homa here in the summer.

Let’s start a “Get Stoner Homa” petition.

Knowing Golf Australia we’ll probably end up with Scott Verplank instead.

Golf club technology. It makes a huge difference.

I just upgraded from a Taylormade M1 to a Titliest TSR2. I reckon I got the M1 about 6 years ago. Didn't get fitted properly. Thought the adjustable weight would be all I needed. Just hit a few different drivers at House of Golf at Flinders St after work one day when they had a sale. I think i paid about $600 for it. Was happy with it until recently. Reading a bit about how far the tech has come with driver faces.

Thought it was about time for a new driver. Got fitted at Albert Park fitting hub. Matt Tudor. Nice guy, has all the different driver/shaft combos you could want as well as the Trackman setup. Was keen on the Callaway Paradym. Hit with most of the major brands as well as the M1. The TSR2 was clearly the best on the day for me. Tighter dispersion and slightly better ball speed. (159mph with driver which is only about 20-30 mph behind the pros!!) No wonder they hit it 30m plus past me.

Got it this week, played at Rosebud Friday. Didn't hit one duck hook or massive slice. First time in a long time that has happened. Don't reckon it was swinging different, just the technology in the face that reduces the dispersion. Hits that I thought were shockers ended up just in rough. Felt like cheating. Makes me keen to play more, can't wait to get back the the Nash.

Anyone else upgraded recently and happy with the change.

Footnote - I take it all back if I go out there next week and have 24 points.
