Geelong Floppers

Do ya know it's now 8 weeks since we rolled the cats?
Have to amuse ourselves the best we can I suppose.

Apart from winning the flag, having just rewatched this match, right up there with my favourite bit of play for the season, is just prior to us hitting the front in the 3rd Qtr when we keep harassing and tackling etc until Dion passes it to Tom who goals and they cut away to this. ......!

I can't seem to help myself from chuckling for some reason..... bloody sad old lot, aren't they?:mhihiView attachment 9333
I wonder which 1 is Melcattz, the crazy Twitter sheila

You answered your own question. "A kid".

One thing that really bemuses me about Geelong is that with Kardinia Park, despite the club having built all those big new grandstands in recent years, the crowd capacity has not improved one iota from the old days in the 70's/80's when half the ground was solid standing room for spectators. Had they have got the crowd capacity up to say 50,000 (or even at least 45,000) instead of just a paltry 33,000, they may well have had a realistic chance of getting a home final game. Visiting teams just have little idea how to properly play that ground with its narrow wings and the Geelong defenders do their defending masterfully there. Sadly I have many bad memories of the long drive back up the Geelong highway after having ventured down to that ground chock full of confidence each time that this was going to be the time that we would finally beat those mongrels at that place.

It's a bit sad when top players stage. Don't like it when our players do it. Dusty may chuck it, but he never ever stages.

Interesting stat

Geelong 44 year drought 1963-2007
Made finals 20 times
5 losing grand finals (67, 89, 92, 94, 95)
6 losing preliminary finals (64, 68, 80, 81, 91, 04)
6 losing semifinals (65, 66, 69, 76, 97, 05)
1 losing qualifying final (96)
2 losing elimination finals (78, 00)

Richmond 37 year drought 1980-2017
Made finals 3 times
1 losing grand final (82)
2 losing preliminary finals (95, 01)

To be honest I’m not sure which one would more painful, never getting there or all those losses.

p.s. I know what one of them feels like.
Would prefer to be in the mix every yr but this just shows how Geelong are perennial chokers in September & have gone back to those ways.

Taking it away from them when they thought they had it won just made it so much sweeter. Remember when they used to do it to us routinely?
Only supporter group to be giving it to us after they belted our VFL side in Rd 12, they were carrying on as tho they'd won the flag, they laughed when i told them "we'll meet again in September" to which thier reply was we won't even be playing in september. this made the Prelim all the more enjoyable.

It's even funnier that after Lynch tore them a new one in the prelim thier response is to get Jenkins, tho at least he fits thier "goes missing in september" culture perfectly.....

My parents used to go to every game back in the ‘60’s no matter where we played. After both my father and my uncle had their pockets picked at Kardinia Park one Saturday afternoon they crossed it off their list. Loved seeing Ottens have to sit through the flogging we gave them in 2017 and it was also enjoyable seeing Gaz Sr watch them fall apart this year.

Really when you think about it, they should have a ground capacity of about 150,000 by making use of the fact that you could fit another 25,000 on each side of the ground where the wings are supposed to be.

They didnt beat us they would smashed us.
Theyre another club not use to losing to us.
Thats what happened to Adelaide.
They thought we were stkilda and the 2017 flag was all theres.
We only beat Geelong 2 or 3 times between 1985-2000.
Theyre a one year away from copping a Brisbane like record against us.

At least the sub editor has been reading PRE..... Maybe replace 'jumps' with DIVES!
