Game Day - Tiges v Deez Round 20, 2023

Result pretty accurate of ladder and team structure currently… Melb are close to top echelon and we are fair to middle… weight of entry was a nightmare for any backline today

Dylan is one of my favourites. He’s been part of the best backline I’ve ever seen. But sadly today was a glaring signal that he’s done.

I know you can have bad days, but what I saw today was more than that.

If he had a niggle, well, fine. But that would then beg the question why didn’t he come off and Miller went down back ?

Too many all at sea games the last 2-3 years. As it is with Chimp and Jack, it’s time.
Yep, but Grimo was done weeks ago.

Ever seen him play like that before? No? And I bet you never will again.

Helps when you play against a backline that performed as badly as ours today.
No I haven't seen him play like that before bc it was apparently the first time he was used in that position. He is usually overshadowed in the backline by May and Lever so it was a match-winning move. He just played with better body work and better judgement than our defenders along with Soldo. He showed us how much we miss Lynch.

I hope McQualter unloads in the presser.

He's got nothing to lose.

"Look I thought it was an excellent contest, 2 evenly matched teams playing at a high standard. I think the disgraceful bias and bewildering incompetence of the officiating was the difference today"

Any more questions?
Would be great to hear a Coach able to speak his mind on certain issues, but it's 2023 and in this PC world we live in, we'd hate to "Umpire-shame" anyone and have them have a Mental breakdown and take their Bat & Ball and never officiate again, that would be just terrible....... ;)

Dusty 3 goals and 2 goal assists but where is he in the last? Look elsewhere for blame.

Truth is we have only ever won anything because of Dusty

When he was going today we looked like a premiership team but he cant get us all the way anymore

Hardwick and most of our players would be nothing without him thats the simple truth

He drops plenty when he is on his own. Another on HFF today when we were surging forward in third quarter; turnover resulted and ball straight back in Dees forward line. He does it every week it seems. Needs to be dropped.
Pickett is the new George

Oh so your telling me the likes of Bakes, Shai, and Dusty not getting any ball but sitting in the Forward line when the ball hasn't been within Cooee of it, isnt an issue ?

Right, that's some pure Football genius right there and Hey, we all love DUSTY but can be objective about certain things when its called for.
Why you being so aggressive? Don't need the genius remark. Dusty 3 goals 2 goal assists, 11 score involvements. Most effective disposals for the game. The guy is 32yo, what more do you want? Bolton most disposals, 8 clearances, 11 inside 50s. They were our best 2 performing players and you're asking where were they? As I said look elsewhere, it's a team game, it shouldn't rely on 2 players to get us over the line.

Have a spell TBR burner.

That 2017 - 2020 team was chock full of superstars.

Dusty was the goat icing on a powerhouse team

The commentators aren’t even able to question the umpiring

no excuses just not good enough in the last. Apart from Norf, all our remaining games are against contenders including Port in Radelaide to finish off. could be a long month

Got to wonder how much these blatant umpiring calls have on players mentality during the game. Must suck so much energy out of you

It wasnt actually that bad today plenty of folks running on hair triggers because we get reamed every week

The 50s were all legit and most of the frees were pretty right as well

Broad tried to pull a ginnivan and got what that *smile* deserves

Weve had 10 games with worse umpiring towards us this year

Yep, our guys tend to tire in 2nd halfs, that's why I thought Hopper might have more influence than he did, certainly wasn't exhausted in the first half that I recall.
Hopper has been very poor for weeks in the first half. In the last 3 weeks he hasn't had more than 7 disposals in the 1st half. Appears to pickup in 2nd half but need him firing from the start. Been overall disappointing imo since coming back from injury.

Thought we played as well as any game this year BUT
- backline was poor - don't think we have had 14 goals kicked on is by three players in a long time!
- Balta outmarked on numerous occasions
- Young had his colours lowered for the first time in a while
- Vlaustin was fumbly and indecisive
- And Grimes was positively awful. His downwards spiral has intensified - maybe should be in the same conversation as Cotchin and Riewoldt regards retirement. I would have Cotchin in front of him but I know Grimes has a contract!

Soldo battled manfully but overwhelmed in the end - maybe shouldn't have been off in that decisive period in the last.
Our manufactured forward line kicked 15 goals - should have been enough!

Umpiring was just plain cheating - everytime we got a break they plucked a dodgy free kick:

- HTB against Ross and 50 against Hopper just after we went 20 points up
- Non decision of holding the man against Rioli in the next play (those two goals kept them in touch)
- HTB against Taranto when we were back in front in last.
- HTB against Hopper at CHF
- HTB against Broad in goals square.

Its just that we never get them!

Would love to know the free kick differential on HTB!

Its about time the club called the umpiring out - what have they got to lose?
