GAME DAY THREAD - TIGES V POWER

Umpiring aside we let ourselves down with some simple turnovers costing us goals at both ends. We had them on the ropes in the third quarter but let them back in with cheap goals.
Yes, some of our players didn't handle the extreme pressure from both a very fast and aggressive team, backed by a totally feral, biased crowd. Even some of our more experienced ones.

But knowing the dumpires are looking to ream them with rigged decisions for errors that our opposition do not get pinged for, must also increase the pressure they feel under. Even if just referred pressure. You can see it in the panicky disposal - often.

We found a new level of intensity in the second half that we haven’t reached yet this year.

That’s a good sign we’ll improve as the year goes on.

Balta handpassed the ball because he was caught and being slung. It could've gone anywhere. To suggest he was looking for the boundary was a very harsh interpretation.

Deboy will get a gig again because the umpiring stocks are desperately low. Just hope they keep him the *smile* away from our games. We should be getting the best umpires as a) premiers and b) showcase time slot.
Was called a throw I believe

Spot-on, in the 3rd qtr we were dominating time in the front half then we cough up 2 goals late, first Broad handballs straight to a Port player who goals, then Nank goes to grimes kicks over his head and Rozee goals, Then early in the 4th, not sure who it was but one of our players throws Georgiadis to the side 'off the ball' and he goals,

That's 3 goals plus the 5 the umps gave them = 8 goals from their 11 goals gifted. In all honesty, we should've won that game, blew it.

We were two men down tonight playing the kids and also nursing in a rusty underdone Houli.

Hopefully it was worth it as that 4 points lost could be the reason we have to go to Adelaide or Perth for a knockout final again for another reaming.

Hopefully we will remember to pack the Vaseline before heading over.

These 11 goal each snore fests are ruining the game. Need more 20 goals to 10 games for commentators to cream themselves over.

True but we need to stop the bleeding next week after pissing a precious 4 points up the wall tonight, especially against Port over there.

We got to be more cleaner to starting to get to sloppy and make poor decisions to.Can someone tell me why our forwards don't get the same frees as others in the league.

Overall I like the way umpires are adjudicating the deliberate OOB which now seems to be not enough attempt rather than deliberate. I think it's too difficult for an umpire to gauge whether a player has done it deliberately or not so the next best judgement is vicinity of the boundary line and what other players are near when the ball is kicked or handballed out. There's always going to be some inconsistency though with this rule. Maybe it is time to bring in the rule where free goes to opposite team of last touched or disposed.

Am also in 2 minds about the Houli holding the ball. I'm not sure how he didn't hear the call, it was loud and repeated. But if the rule changes on whether you heard the call or not, what stops players from pretending to not hear the call? Tough one but not as incensed about that as so many other inconsistent decisions on the night totally against the Tigers. Surely though we're used to it by now and should just concede that we're playing in effect with less players on the field most weeks.

This stood out to me. The number of sloppy kicks and even moreso handballs straight to the opposition was astounding. This setup some easy shots at goal for them. I really do think the more attacking style that most teams are employing has been hugely detrimental to the Tigers competitive advantage. Some big games coming up after the Saints game. We need to get our act together or the season can quickly slip away.

This is a directive from Hocking.
Because Dan Richardson is in charge of the umpires and they have done in the last 2 weeks is absolutely cream us.
