Footy media , love’m or hate’ m ?

I'm often caught wondering how blokes like Tom Browneye n Blobbo get jobs in the spoken media.
Their brains are thinking one direction while their mouths are jabbering in a completely opposite direction resulting in mumbling, bumbling, gibberish being presented to the listener.
How the *smile* is this possible?
Browne got his through daddy’s connections, while Robinson is a complete mystery.

Tom Brown is nepotism pure and simple.

Leysy's pet hate - Commentators calling the game remotely.

Channel 7 attend all matches but Fox rarely do for any matches outside Melbourne.

And you can easily tell by their inability to advise what is occurring downfield, off the ball or on the bench.

Considering the money tipped in it's horrible. Have started moving over to 7 to watch (even with the ads) just for that fact.

They have copied what they do for Big Bash which is just as bad, probably worse considering the differing viewerships.

And guess what Travis Auld defended it this week.

When you work on the assumption that most of your audience has attention deficit syndrome, you can go remote call, because it won't be picked up or remembered anyway.
Just put in more fireworks or loud songs after a goal and everything will be sweet.
Just ask the king of hyperbole, James Brayshaw.

That article by Lauren Wood doesn't really reflect that in 3 of our 4 games so far it's been pissing down for much of the games. No wonder our scoring is lower.

The media analysis is generally shallow and poor. Basically playing to their audience. King said the Saints have effectively re-invented football. A week after the Pies had re-invented football.

They have to fill too much time, they take a 30 second snapshot video and conclude all sorts of things from it.

King is a notoriously poor tipster, if watching replays gave you even a slight edge in predicting future performance (as it does in horse racing/greyhound etc) they wouldn't bother wasting their time working for a living.

I like Kingy, seems like a good bloke. He is a terrible tipster but a good analyst. Never ask him what's going to happen, just what did happen.

Wasn't he the genius that said he wasn't sure of the credentials of the top 8, because in all the times they had played each other the win/ loss ratio was 50/50.

Agree on Kingy, I love listening to the Monday Means Test as I slog through the first working hours of the week

In fact Whateley has such good chemistry with Kingy they’d be perfect doing AFL360 when Blobbo inevitably explodes into a pile of bloody pus and mucus.

On a positive note for this thread. Alister Nicholson is fast becoming the number one caller in the game.
