Essendon = Entitlement

Ironic that Bombers fans for a long time loved to give it to Cotch for gaining "cheap disposals" and doing nothing with them, yet now push their "elite stars" of Merrett, Parish and McGrath despite being 3 of the least damaging midfielders in the game.

Watched the Show me the Money documentary on stan. There were no surprises, but it was interesting. Player managers are like real estate agents, fast talking spivs without a lot of substance, but a necessary evil in most cases.

The trading episode was interesting. Dodoro's status or image as difficult to deal with confirmed, which was interesting, and the Hill deal didn't happen because he lowballed the Giants. The player manager asked for a price, which wasn't unreasonable, and he said 'I'd get sacked if I did that'. Seemed like a an old-fashioned, macho, unsophisticated, and just plain dumb negotiator. It was obvious that his view was Hill had chosen Ess, therefore he wouldn't have to pay much. Also seemed like GWS wouldn't give him the time of day. Its ironic and amazing he hasn't been sacked, how long since they won anything?, indicative of their culture and he must wield a lot of power.

That's where the entitlement & resulting delusion stems from. The next gen won't have it though, 20yr olds have yet to experience a finals win.
The brigade of Essendon supporters in the ponsfold stand waving their scarfes have all gone now

But October will come around again and he once again will be lauded for a terrific job.
He is hopeless
Ssshhhhhh!!!!!!
He’s doing a bloody great job. The druggies should give him a contract extension right now (before they work out what the rest of the footy world knows) ;)

22 years without a flag. So they are us as we were in 2002. Hopefully they’ve got another 16 fruitless years ahead to take them to 38 years without a flag.

Let's not sell the Bombers elite midfield short....I think you're forgetting Dylan Shiel as well.:)

He's a Sheedy man and as Sheedy is like the Trump of Essendon in that when he enters the building, they kneel before him and kiss his ring. .... he won't be going anywhere until the godfather says so!

Btw.... we shouldn't be promoting his demise, I think he's doing a terrific job.;)

yeah exactly... the powerful coteries which were a real asset to clubs pre-turn of the century are holding clubs like Essendon back now. Sounds like they are great if you want to business network, not so great if you want onfield football success. Amazing that Dodoro has hung on for so long.

Dylan Shiel is reportedly being looked at by a rival AFL club just days after he was dropped by the Bombers.
The star midfielder was a late inclusion for Essendon in their 32-point loss to the Western Bulldogs on Sunday after coach Ben Rutten initially sent him to play in the VFL last weekend.

It was a grim situation that exposed how messy it is at Essendon as the club slumps to a 1-6 start to the season.

The former Giants star’s future is suddenly unsettled despite being in the middle of a monster six-year deal, reported to be worth around $4.8 million.

It has now been reported at least one club is monitoring Shiel’s situation at Essendon — five months before the 2022 AFL Trade Period.

Journalist Tom Browne has told Triple M at least one “prominent club” is keeping a close eye on Shiel’s situation.

“Will other clubs look at Shiel? Well they will if Essendon want to trade him at the end of the year,” he said.

“It’s too early to discuss that at the moment. But I know that at least one prominent club I’ve spoken to that Shiel at least offensively is a good player. So if the Bombers wanted to pay some of his salary at the end of the year and give him up for a second round pick, I’m sure there are clubs that would potentially be interested.

Probably Cartoon or Scumwood, however, I reckon it will be good if we take him.

He gets mocked a lot but I think it's the Bummers culture that's killing him.

I rather swallow my own vomit than ever see that salty squib in a Tigers jumper. Threw Cotch under the bus in 2017 and hasn't stopped sooking about it since.
