Earthquake?

someone suggested that gina rinehart just dropped her purse but i very much doubt she gets to moe much...

Nah, she sat down.

Moe is a mining town.

Out of interest, did anyone actually hear the earthquake?

We had one a few years ago over here in WA, lasted for about 10 seconds. It certainly rattled things, but what most people in town remember is the sound.

It sounded like a badly vibrating fan, and woke both myself and the wife before the shaking actually started.

I believe it is quite common to actually hear earthquakes if you are close enough to the epicentre. We were about 90kms from this one, but I can't remember what magnitude it was.

Heard it was a 5.5 and the epicenter was Moe?

Was sleeping and though it was the wind then thought to myself an earthquake ,Nah!

Each passing earthquake/tremor gets stronger. We just never use to get them, then lately they have been occurring .

Hope everyone is ok.

Nite.

I didn't hear it but I sure felt it in the south eastern burbs. Thought I was having a reaction to my glass of red and then realised the whole house was shaking.

Epicenter was about 10km's from my house. Only loss so far is a jar of Chutney that fell of the shelf.

Quite a shake and rumble. Biggest I've experienced.

Heard it and felt it. My first instinct was to look up as i thought there were possums in the roof, i then felt it through my feet and then realised what it was.

First time i have felt one properly and gee what a weird feeling. Hate to imagine what a monster one would feel like.

If you thought the sound of the quake was loud, wait till you hear the roar of the tiger army that greets the final siren when the tigers salute the judge in a grand final, now thats a roar that will be heard worldwide.

The epicentre must be in Trafalgar (SW of Moe).

Gippsland's got beautiful countryside but must have unstable ground underneath. Hope no tsunamis happen along Bass Strait.

Well and truly felt it here in Traralgon.

Took me till halfway through the thing to realise it was a quake/tremor lasted about 20-30 seconds and enjoyed every second of it. I have never felt as much as a tremor in my lifetime. Quite a surreal experience. I didn't have anything fall off though, every item in the house has a good base.

It was clearly very strong

Sounded to me like very long large trucks passing on either side of my house. I turned the telly off within the first few seconds so I heard about 10-15 seconds worth.

yep - felt it in Preston - 10k's north of Melbourne city

I'm in Preston and didn't feel it. Heard it though, sounded like a severe wind squall. Thought myself lucky that I've got a roof over my head tonight!

BoM blames Carlton supporters jumping off the bandwagon.
