Eagles first round pick for sale??

I would trade Foley and our 2nd rd pick. Then i'd go hard with another club to receive their 2nd round pick.

Draft picks are vitally important - in philosophy - but individually people severely overrate our chances of finding a gun player.

Would you trade Brett Deledio for all of this?

Pick 3
Pick 4
Pick 5
Pick 6
Pick 7
AND
Pick 8
- All combined!!!??!!!!

Most of you would say Richmond would win in an unrealistic trade like this by so much it's not funny. But to give you some perspective of what this draft might look like, I will post the first round draft picks from the last draft with an age change (the 2002 draft):

1 1 Brendan Goddard Gippsland U18 St. Kilda
1 2 Daniel Wells Peel Thunder Football Club Kangaroos
1 3 Jared Brennan Southern Districts Football Club Brisbane Lions
1 4 Tim Walsh Northern U18 Western Bulldogs
1 5 Jarrad McVeigh NSW-ACT U18 Sydney Swans
1 6 Steven Salopek Dandenong U18 Port Adelaide
1 7 Andrew Mackie Glenelg Football Club Geelong
1 8 Luke Brennan Northern Ballarat Football Club Hawthorn
1 9 Hamish McIntosh Murray U18 Kangaroos
1 10 Jason Laycock Tasmania U18 Essendon
1 11 Jason Winderlich Gippsland U18 Essendon
1 12 Jay Schulz Woodville-West Torrens Football Club Richmond
1 13 Byron Schammer West Adelaide Football Club Fremantle
1 14 Daniel Bell Glenelg Football Club Melbourne
1 15 Nicholas Smith Norwood Football Club Melbourne
1 16 Stephen Gilham Oakleigh U18 Port Adelaide

Even if we were offered picks 4 + 6 for Deledio, there's no chance in hell I would be happy with it. I think it's easy to get caught up in the excitement of the lottery aspect of the draft.

2002? Drafting science has improved quite dramatically since then from all reports.

lids is still not even at the playing peak of his career, we should be doing everything we can to keep the bugger at richmond. we trade him for Wet Toasts first round pick of #5, so we r effectivly recieving 5th in line. if he turns out to be joel selwood then great for us, we hav won on the deal but how many guys get drafted that dont turn out like joel selwood. we could end up with rhys palmer who is a very good player, won the rising star award but cant kick, wont break a game apart and kick 3-4 goals in a quarter and did his knee in his 2nd year so will play the rest of his career with scar tissue in his knee. the prospect of giving up deledio and settling for someone like rhys palmer who was consided the best young player last season is a ridiculas gamble that isnt worth taking.

We need to keep Deledio at all costs. What other AFL team would let a player like Deledio go at 22yo? Of we cannot manage to keep him then I'd have to say we still have major problems with our player management skills. We'll get nowhere if thats the case.
