Where have they gone wrong here TBR? Not being 100% open?

Your last line is apt.

It's been handled terribly from the start. Contrary to your small time thinking that every opinion has to be formed based on some sort of personal grudge, I just deal with what is on the table.

As I said:

They keep talking about how they were making a decision about management during the game factoring in the six day break and his history but then there is talk of him having some awareness, he has a scan and may or not play this week.

My issue is it is either half arsed preparation or terrible management of him.

All of the factors were on the table before the game regarding his age, history and the 6 day break so why is there discussion about management going on? It's not like the phone rang half way through the last quarter and the news came through we were playing Friday night so quick get him off.

That stuff should be planned and prepared and be the last thing you are worrying about during a game. If they were managing him it should be right Dustin will play X minutes this week and then be subbed.

The other scenario is that he was fine before the game, no management considered or required and then had an issue with his hamstring during the game. If that is the case then again, no discussion required, off he comes and he doesn't play this week.

I'm wondering if they are hedging because they are feeling pressure from the likes of Kane Cornes questioning the injuries and if that is the case then it's a real concern because you have to be able to stand more heat than that.

It all just seems very illogical and disjointed and quite amateur to be brutally honest.

Then we've had this weird will he or won't going on until yesterday. Based on the fact he has been training we can rule out a significant injury, a graded strain or tear. He had a scan on Monday so if there were any signals present (which is a sign of inflammation or swelling) he would be immediately ruled out this week, not training.

So does he have an issue with his hamstring and is still running around risking further injury or is his hamstring fine by every measure we have and he is missing for another reason?

From someone with NFI.
Maybe he has cracked ribs or something similar?
I wouldn't tell everyone either if so, as they would target his torso all game for the next few weeks?

That's certainly one of a couple of things you would lie about with good reason.

But to choose a hamstring as cover when your conditioning guys are already copping it in the media wouldn't add up, you'd just say he was crook.

Will miss only one week according to Hardwick. Had the game been on a Sunday he would have played. Same goes with Hopper.

There’s nothing to worry about until Balmy says he’ll miss 2 or 3 weeks. That’s when you can write him off for the season!

So are you saying they have handled his "injury" ineptly? Or not communicated well enough?

And if it's the second part, what is the big deal? Were you hoping for free tickets?

You seem all worked up about nothing.

it would not be a surprise to me if Dusty decided to hang up his boots very soon.
Plagued with hamstring problems, has not really shone in the 2 games to date.
Maybe his illustrious career is over.
Not a chicken any more and financially well set up.
Could be sooner than we think.

Geez, going a bit early there.

Dusty is on mega bucks in year 7 of his contract next year. He was also actively involved in getting Taranto and Hopper to Richmond. Not only is he at least 2 years away from retirement (I expect him to continue on after that), he is still actively engaged.

The only thing that concerns me right now is that he goes the way of Lids. However, Lids had calf issues and hammy’s have a higher probability of being fixed (think Grimes).

Nank said he was sore after round 1 going into the adelaide game and it got worse as the game wore on? I think we can rule out any sort of hammy, if his body is sore after 1 afl game, he's clearly not fit enough which is disappointing

The club has come out saying we will take a conservative approach this year - rotating our players more, it’s the Geelong model.

It worked last week, subbing out your star player when the game is on the line shows we are taking an absolutely no risk policy - dam gutsy coaching move last week.

So I don’t quite get the angst on here - the club have been open with their tactics.

I'm still worried about the aftermath of renal laceration. It may well be nothing to do with training fitness.

Gee Duz looked involved and energised on Saturday.
We didnt win but how fantastic to see him up and about
Look out swans!

I really enjoyed his game this week

How good would it be to see him play finals with peak fitness this year?!
