Interesting. In Melbourne, it's normally not that hard to get this stuff before it goes public but no one I know had seen it before it went public.

As far as I can tell, this isn't a new situation but one that has reappeared after being dealt ages ago.
What often happens is someone will contact a high profile person and offer to sell them the video because if you sell them the video it's not blackmail. If they don't want to buy it the next stop is selling to the the media.
Just my speculation but I imagine what went on here was a deal was struck but the person either didn't have control of the original or had shared it with someone else. So now years down the track someone else comes out with the same deal, they are told to get lost because you are not going to be continually tapped for the same scam, and the media also don't want to buy it.
Left with a worthless video the person decides they may as well get a kick out of blowing it up on social media, and here we are.
