Draft/Trade Strategy 2023

He shows a bit, 54 goals in 48 games. Perhaps just needs a new environment. We need another big key target and he won't cost much. Will support Lynch. He's big enough and a good height. Still only 23, scope for improvement.

Born: 11 July 2000 (age 23 years),
Height: 1.98 m Position(s):
Key Forward Date joined: 2021 (Hawthorn Football Club)
Current club: Hawthorn Number: 23

T71 called this middle of 2022,another great call based on player manager links.

Maybe the Ty Vickery deal sort of counts. Pretty sure it was worked out se we'd get good compo
Sorry was only talking about players that had come to us from Hawthorn. Mind you. Vickery to the Hawks is 2 to us and one to them. Not a lot.

That sounds about right, this year is probably the right time to be trading third rounders, I think if that's the eventual cost it's a reasonable stab.
Hawks next pick after 22 is 77. They will want to get back into the draft. Pick 44 does that.

Would we consider turning him into a defender?

With Lynch & Gibsus returning next year with Lynch FF & Gibsus CHF?

Kosi at CHB with Balta FB. ?

Vlaustin & Broad our intercepting Backs.

We need I think an extra tall?

Makes us look much better with Balta, Young & Kosi as our talls?

Move Baker Boy back and Rioli , Daniel maybe on a wing?

If its 44 I reckon we get their Future 4th back with him.

Probably right that they will want 44, as they will try and get McCabe with later picks. Interesting then what they do with 29, its exactly where they don't want it, as McCabe will swallow it up, so I suspect they will try and trade it out.

He's big enough, he'd be second in line to take the gorillas, if Balta moves forward I can't see too many other candidates for that role.

Kositchke. Goals in first 48 #AFL games:
Jack Riewoldt - 59 goals
Tom Lynch - 57 goals
Jacob Koschitzke - 54 goals

All 48 would have mostly been losing games for all 3 players, at a guess

Can he kick straight? Good height and age. Speed on the lead? Marking skills?
Hawthorn haven’t been on tv much.

By the way…

Why does everyone want to make a defender out of everyone?
When will this insanity end?
Forwards are gold.

Kicking for goal would be my main concern although his conversion stats aren't too bad once you take out 2023. I think Kosi represents a very clear upgrade on Miller so with that in mind he's a decent pick-up. I'm actually viewing this recruitment as a bit of a blank canvass, I'm not completely sold on his viability as a 40 goal forward but once you factor in his rucking ability plus the potential to move to full back I think he's a potential moneyball acquisition. He's not a slug either so there's plenty of scope to find his niche.

Kosi looks like a lead up forward to me, so maybe it's a case of looking for a leading FF and moving Lynch up to CHF. Lynch has played some of his best footy up at CHF, so I'd be keen to see the club explore this option. Alternatively, whilst still yet to be convinced, I could see Balta bursting out on leads from the goalsquare as well.

I think he provides us some options. Also allows Bauer to be a floating/marking forward who can take a decent grab against smaller opponents.

It gives us something to work with until we rebuild some decent tall stocks through the draft over a few years.

Straight swap, Kosi for Miller. I know we are giving up a lot but it’s a sacrifice I’m prepared to make.
