Actually she complied with the Olympic rules for transgender athletes as adopted by the AFL. They had to invent a reason to keep her out. Now, the Olympic rules are far from perfect. Ask Caster Semenya. And just looking at pictures my first reaction is that she looks like a ripped bloke with long hair. But that can't be how this is decided. In a world where this sort of issue is going to become more common sporting organisations are going to have to be better prepared.

My issue with this thread is not discussing drafting a transgender player but more so vilifying or insulting a person personally because we don't agree with their situation.
I was very strongly in the yes camp initially but I'm of 2 minds about it now. As she is under the required testosterone levels to compete in the Olympics, she should be able to join. But IF she hasn't fully transitioned (had the requisite surgery), then I think it's a bit premature to be applying in the first place.
The AFL should have had rules in place before they launched AFLW. It's another example of amateur hour by the AFL to be unprepared for this

I am in the no camp. If you are born male, there are residual physical differences/benefits of being born male, that no amount of hormone therapy or sex change procedures can undo. But speaking scientific reality is apparently a form of bigotry.
Bare in mind the end goal for lobbyists in this area is a legal environment where people self certify as the gender they identify. They are then permitted to participate in activities reserved for that gender. Any organisation who denies them this right will be violating their human rights and face prosecution. The tactic is a gradual chipping away at the current framework until they reach that end goal.
My Devils Advocate question is, why not just abolish gender based sport altogether? If gender is entirely a social construct, as these people argue, surely we shouldn't have gender/sex based competition? Of course this would undo all of the work feminism has done regarding sport, as 99% of elite athletes would then be men. How far do they really want to push this? Because it makes a nonsense of the concept of gender/sex segregated competition.
