Matt Randell 'Dusty is worth a first rounder + Papley"
What an absolute clown.
A one in millennium player is worth Papley in a swap??
If we deal with Sydney I want Mills or Heeney and there first.
Ralph Malph reckons that if we trade Dusty to Sydney we should also pay some of his salary :rotfl2:rotfl2

When I heard Dimma I was a bit surprised by his apparent candidness. But on reflection I think it was just feeding the chooks Keating-style.

He didn't actually say anything.

He might go if or when we rebuild. Might. But right now we are regenerating. If things keep going well, we could be regenerating for the next 10 or 20 years! He also said rebuilds are bad n'kay. If things don't keep going well and we are forced into a rebuild, he might leave, he might stay, if he leaves it will be after 15-odd years and 3 flags, nothing lasts forever.

He basically just said que sera sera. Who knows?

On Dusty, he has my blessing. What else can he say? If he leaves its a betrayal? He's already said he owes us nothing, which is the same as he has my blessing. If you love someone set them free man, especially after a couple of cones.

When I heard Hooch Hardwick I just thought he was flapping his gums, casual style, trying to make a point that Dusty owes us nothing and that in the unlikely event he wanted out, then we wouldn't stand in the way. Bet he wishes he framed it differently. Otherwise, meh.

Everyone now is now trying to work out a trade deal with either with Sydney or GWS.
What's Dusty worth, what will Richmond get.
This story has now just gone into over drive.
In hindsight Hardwick should have made no comment.

i think Hardwick said he would support Dusty whatever he chooses in life. maybe a little clumsy, but just his way of being a "richmond man" and showing he cares more for Dusty than as just Dusty the tiger.
Disagree. He may be softening us up if he really wants to trade, but if that is not the Clubs objective at all then talking about the matter so publicly can only cause additional media pressure to be applied to both Dusty and the club until the trade period is over, or Dusty announces his retirement from the game.

We can't loose either way as he's contracted heavily, but don't want to see him go.
For mine I'm waiting on Tiger71,and taking it to the bank .

I think Dimma was just being honest and a bit diplomatic so nothing comes back to bite him , if he did decide to do something different , after what they have been through , he would support him

I don't think it would have made much difference, if any.

John Ralph for a so called Richmond supporter writers and says some bad shitt.
Sydney should be paying us Royalties for having dusty.
What's this thing every 10 yrs
Sydney needs a player to show case the club.
Capper 80's
Lockett 90s
Buddy 2010's
And now Dusty.
That knucklehead from Geelong that runs the joint is a massive flog.

Exactly.

Who really really knows what else Dusty was going through when he walked away this year.

We know he was ‘grieving for his best mate ‘ but also seen ‘out and about’, Sydney etc.

Who knows if some of this ‘walking away’ was for reasons like, I’m thinking of retiring, I don’t know if I’ve got it in me to keep playing after losing my dad, I will come back play out this year then that’s it or can you facilitate a trade to ‘either’ of the NSW clubs but preferably Sydney!

I know from my own experience , a little younger then Dusty when my dad passed away , I struggled with everything.

Went off the rails.

Resigned from a job I was in for 9 years.

I took time off and went overseas and nearly thought about joining the army.

Splashed big $ on a sports car.

THEN decided heck why don’t I just pop the question and get married.

ALL in 3 months.

I look back and realise the loss of my dad had a profound and nearly catastrophic effect on my behaviour and way of thinking.,.

LZ I wonder sometimes whether he is a ‘real’ Tiger supporter or a ‘headline grabbing writer’.

you forgot big bad bustling

He didn't seriously say that did he? .... We're not talkin a Jaidyn Stephenson/Adam Treloar here!
Yep. Reckons his $1.2m salary will be an impediment to any move, from a salary cap management perspective, so we should pay some of it to make it happen :mhihi

The guy is a total numpty.

Rodney Plonkerfield is the man they should target next.

I know where Ralphy Baby lives...he needs to play nice.

Makes sense now. Dusty takes time off...rumours about him retiring...locked into a contract at Richmond so cant leave Melbourne. Seen in Sydney....Loves Sydney because of the less media attraction....rumour about a trade at the end of the year that fans wont be happy with...then Dimma makes these comments...100% gone imho.

I love Dustry....but club needs to get the best deal...hard to play hardball though with a club legend.

As a guess... same week Dimma makes these comments the GWS coach is sacked.....That would be the story...but a guess.

Thanks Waiting. You are right to point out it is something Dusty will never get over and the best he can hope for is learning to live with it.

Dimma's comments may have been well meaning but by extending the media pressure on both Dusty and the RFC he has done both a massive dis-service.
