Damien Hardwick

Something will be organised at a later date according to the letter to members by John O'Rourke

It is a measure of the man that he has made this decision in what he sees as the best interests of the Club. Selflessness is one of his great qualities and for that Damien is and always will be revered as a Richmond man.

While Damien won’t coach this weekend, we will look for an opportunity for members and supporters to thank him for everything he has given the Club at a later date.
Maybe he can present the Cup to Cotch in September

Quite enjoyed Caro teeing-off on Gill. Something about AFL cutting coaches wages and the soft cap while the Execs draw massive wages. Like it.
The soft cap is 33% less than it was pre-covid, but AFL exec salaries are up 13%. Because they make the game.

Dimma started ringing the players yesterday (and I assume staff) so it would be pretty easy for word to get out.

While it really sucks that we’re losing him, he will retire as an absolute legend of the club and the game, and I’m glad it was on his terms. Not many get to do that.

The club has gone to their archives and revived this little beauty:

In memory of Dimma I am going to find a day to watch 2017, 2019 and 2020 GF's back to back to back, (i have never done this and i have no idea why   ).

The love for the players was the big takeaway from the presser. Maybe the sight of his banged-up champs giving 2023 a last shot at glory and he knows that it is beyond them. Dion, Nank, Cotchy and Jack were playing hurt for him. It has to take an emotional toll.

I still would have preferred a 'leave of absence' for Dimma, but he's far too competitive and proud for that.

We knew 2023 was going to be one final shot for this group, and it just hasn't worked out that way.

We are in for a massive rebuild as soon as we are mathematically out of contention, simply due to the number of players we have over 30.

Get on board for the 2024 ride.

How do you know what the reporters asked? in this day and age you'd think that they could have an audio set-up where you could hear their f%*%*%* questions
That did my head in
Why can't you hear them??
Amateur hour.
I heard someone reference Cornes.
I know a promoter
Corners vs Hardwick.

What a class act by Dimma and the club in todays press conference.
From a far, Ive often thought Hardwick isnt someone i would be mates with, I havent always loved his views on some things, but what has been clear for years is that he is a "class act". His genuine care for those around him shines through constantly. He really has changed the way coaches treat their players (or at least try to), and for the better. Few can say that.
Today was just a further example. He is leaving cos it is the right to do, for everyone.

He doesn't need to be coaching for that though. I'm sure they could present him on field prior to the start of the game for a good bye lap of honour of the G.
We all need to stand at the 17 minute mark
19 & 20 minute mark
And applauded

Cornes and Hardwick are old mates. I reckon they would be hilarious together. Don't get sucked in by the haters.
