Sometimes clubs make incorrect decisions
They don’t get it correct all the time
The decision to extend Dimma’s contract will go down as a mistake

We need to refresh the coaches under him at a minimum

Yeah, I thought it was odd they extended a bloke who'd only won three of the past four flags. Such a strike-rate should have sounded alarm bells.

Yep and three people dear and close to Hardwick walked away from the club at end of last year . FACT !!
Leppa , McCrae and Rob Innes ( rehab ) all left . Clearly last night he was out coached by the worst coach in the AFL . Unless you are visually impaired, to watch last night was cringeworthy at best . Game plan is terrible . Clearly Dimma struggled in 2016 before being “ propped “ up . There needs to be some serious changes at Punt Rd. Playing group hadn’t changed much , so what’s the problem . Think most know what the issue is

If you know it, spill it.

I'm old enough to remember when Rutten and Caracella left and thought we did OK the following year.

There is a major resemblance between the past few weeks & 2016. All starts with game plan & no value/not being good enough at clearances or even contested possession. Infusion of new ideas from new assistant coaches are needed.

The main issue is injuries. Next is the rule changes. Add in age and a slight change in motivation and you've got some pretty good reasons for our slide.

To say Dimma can't coach can only be based on a dislike of him, not on results.

Stig makes a very good point. Once Carra came in everything changed in the coaches box. Now the brain power in their is a quarter of what it was 17 and 19. Watched the game from level 2 last night and it was comical how bad it was. Every goal we scored looked like a lucky 50/50 win and we scrambled a goal. No system anywhere, just long bombs. Has been really poor this year Dimma

I think Stig is blaming Adam Kingsley
In part he is correct. Since when has Kingsley been a defense coach? His bread and butter is the midfield. But the fact we lost so many good assistants means we had to reshuffle everyones responsibilities to the detriment of the team.

not replacing the assistant coaches was dumb. if it's a 'soft cap' thing then ok.
and I've never rated McQualter
yes we've had injuries, but the VFL guys don't look prepared at all
this run we've had is something I never thought I'd see, I hope our reset takes the correct path

The players love Dimma. How quickly we forget the last four years.

Midfield depth and loss of two key rucks are our key onfield problems.

Midfield coach is our off field problem. Last nights clearance plan amounted to Chol tapping it to no one in particular and three guys moving inside to tackle or extract it. We either got tackled or the ball was whisked outside.

Our midfield balance and depth is as bad as it’s been since 2016.

Suggest you watch the game not the scoreboard. Game plan is non existent when Castagna is chasing kicks in the back half of ground . There is zero forward pressure and zero press up to shrink the ground and keep ball inside F50
Got nothing to do about liking or non liking the coach
Why would 3 quality people leave a footy club when your at the top of the mountain and heading towards a 3 Pete
Really

I reckon 3 flags in 4 years would satisfy many. It does me. I could understand after the challenges of 2020 why some would want a break. 2020 was a magnificent feat, a nice way to bow out if you were not 100% committed to going on. Leppa wanted a break. Not sure on the others but the commitment is huge and could easily understand people leaving. Macrae is on bigger $$ at the Hawks. Same with Innes at the Swans. People leave organisations all the time, in good times and bad.

Yeah this was my takeaway from last night as well.

Soldo and Nank fit and firing are so bloody crucial. They are men who hurt the opposition. Nank hunts the opposition when the ball hits the ground. Whilst Soldo lays it on a platter for the likes of Prestia.

Nank, Soldo, Martin, Bolton, Dow, Prestia, Lambert, RCD plus a quality recruit is our starting point.
