Damien Hardwick

A first time senior coach for me, they seem to have the most flag success in recent history gojng back a quarter century or so:

C Scott, Goodwin, Dimma, Simpson, Beveridge, Clarko, Longmire, Thompson, Worsfold, Roos, Williams, Sheedy, Pagan (Malthouse and Matthews ruin the streak)

Totally agree, new coach to take many new players on the journey.

I'm shocked by the timing, thought it may have been at the end of the season, but it is time and if his heart is not fully into then he may as well finish now.

No shame in it; job is done. 3 flags and transformed a rabble into a powerhouse once again. I believed there was a very good chance I'd never see another flag during those 37 years in the abyss. But he gave us 3!! What an era.

Thanks Dimma; everyone's time comes and the time is right now. Enjoy a well deserved rest. The club will be fine going forward; in no small part to your work.
Same here. Let's hope there's no sub-story attached to this decision. Blobbo's already asked Wimpy if Dimma could be some part to the Horks investigation.

WHy isn't this news on AFL or our website? Not even on the Hun?

If it is true, our dynasty is OVER!!!
Still nothing on that’ site.

I ‘won’t say I’m shocked, but genuinely surprised “.

Let’s see if he takes the rest of the year off , due to ‘burnout’ of we will hear come seasons end, he is the coach of……..

-So had we not lost, I doubt this would have happened?

-Did they / he not think , worse case scenario, we don’t make finals that he doesn’t have it in him for another rebuild?

-I’m sure Taranto and Hopper didn’t sign up for this, if they knew Hardwick would step aside after Round 10?

Whatever his reasons, I will forever be thankful that I saw another flag after last seeing in 1980.

Not only that , but 3/4 and so close to achieving 4 in a row, only to be stopped in 2018 by Collingwood.

We saw finals 8/11 , including those 3 Flags and who knows what could have happened in 2 of those EF , 1 PF and final last year.

A statue should be erected in due course for your contribution to the RFC.

A coach who always had his players back publicly and who wasn’t afraid at times to give the AFL a wack.

Who knows what his very public divorce from his wife who was much loved by the players, whom he often referred to her in post match interviews, had an effect on the man , privately..

Thank you Mr Damien Hardwick.

Due Premiership player.
Triple Premiership coach.

Shocked. Sad. Tiger immortal.

Upcoming retirement's of Chimp, Jack etc etc won't be the same without Dimma guiding them through it.

Benny is going to need all his mastery (if he stays) to help the coaching staff keep the senior players heads up or the rest of this season could get very ugly. They admire Dimma so much the letdown could be large.

Unfortunately no Fly, Leppa, Kingsley etc to hand over to in the immediate term. McQualter the longest service Dimma disciple to hold the fort.

Don't underestimate how difficult it is going to be to replace such a huge personality and idol, let alone his motivational and tactical acumen.
Oh dear.
