with hardwicks infamous hard line and ruthlessness ive got a feeling its curtains for the big fella along with plenty others

Oldest player in the comp in a team that's currently in a rebuilding period while trying to develop young key talls.... if he has full authority to do what he wants, Richo is gone. I just hope the ferals don't lash out on Dimma if it occurs because IMO it's the right decision.

It remains to be seen if the 'infamous hard line and ruthlessness' attributed to Hardwick by the internet will live up to people's expectations.

Agree, sorry big fella but its over....
Thanks for the memories. I am 35 years old and he has given me so much joy watching him galavant on the field especially 95 before he went down so cruelly. Still reckon we would have won the flag if he a Wigney hadnt got injured in Sydney.
Culturally, a statement has to be made.

Agreed - as much as I love Richo, and the RFC won't be the same without him, he needs to step aside and let this team develop.

Having him in the forward line will just hinder the development of our forwards.

Lets hope Damien is as hard as everyone is saying.

I'd be shattered if Richo's career was over but it has to happen sooner rather than later. I just hope when the decision is made it's with his blessing and for the right reasons. I understand that Richo is stretching it age wise and his body is showing wear and tear, and that we need to re-build our list, but I'd still be very upset if he finished up no matter what logic is behind it. Richo is Richo and he defies logic. Gee I hate this time of year. :(

Unfortunately this time of year (de-list/retirement time) is the best part about each year for Tiger fans. Not when players like Richo are on the way out but definitely the Jordan McMahon's and Nathan Brown's of the world. :clap :hihi

I love Richo and desperately want to see his last game. I also really admire and respect Cuz as a footballer.

But yeah, I must admit that after the last few weeks have highlighted just how far off it we are and the announcement of a 'hardnut' coach......

I don't really think they are the right players anymore in the context of a deep rebuild.

Why do people want to retire Matty? Because he's considered 'old'.

Line up all the players on our senior list and decide who should be delisted, based on their ability to contribute to the team next season. Does Matty fall into the top 15, top 20 of the group of players who should be delisted? No.

Simple fact is, Matty deserves to go around again, and if Hardwick wants to be known as the guy who cost a team half it's members ... That's precisely what will happen if Matty is forcibly retired, and other outright SPUDS kept on the list.

& let's cut the "Oh but he will hinder our forwards development" - If these sh!t trucks (Sarge, Clever etc) were any good ... They'd still be kicking goals whether Matty is out there ... on the wing ... or not.

If someone like McMahon is kept ahead of Richo because Hardwick wants to join the "Let's cull the old fellas simply because they are old" brigade ... FMD

put richo in the goal square all of next year filling the need of a tall forward we dont have and will have to draft. I can understand getting rid of him if we have somone to replace him with, but we have no tall forwards. cleve hughes is pathetic

I think Cousins is the perfect player to keep on board during a rebuild.

A young team needs a leader, someone they can all look up to and aspire too. Cousins has the best work ethic I have ever witnessed from a Tiger player - ever.

Not only that, but he's won a premiership and a brownlow medal, so can lead by example. He can also fill a need on the field, without affecting the development of any other players.

I can't say the same about Richo as much as I love him.

Ok - so how is Reiwoldt going to learn how to be the number 1 forward if Richo is there?

And cmon, there is no way Richo will be able to sustain another season on the wing. If he plays, it'll be in the forward line, to the detriment of our younger forwards.

Agreed. Both will be heavily scrutinised.

Time to look ahead.

He's had half a season already and is still woefully underwhelming.

& Ben was going to do a hammy everytime he ran out too...

Last sentence edited for accuracy.

Possibly the same way that future number 1s have always learnt when playing second fiddle to the current number 1s.

Riewoldt has improved without Richo there. You're blind if you can't see that.
