Cricket

Let's see what India makes. If they lead by 100 or more we're probably screwed.

Junior's better than Haydos who talks in malapropisms and mangled metaphors.

Like Lyon around the wicket, that's how he threatens both edges, the pads and the stumps. Easy to say he should threaten the outside edge from over the wicket but without a doosra that's pretty tough.

Dermot Brereton is the greatest malapropist on tv.

There is a line and that line is the pitch should be prepared to last the 5 days of a test match and not have cracks on day 1. Absolutely we should be prepared to play in all conditions but the Indians push the boundaries.
Perhaps it might be time to have the International board take control of the preparation on all test pitches world wide to ensure there's no fudging. I'm sure that will keep everyone involved in the game amused.

Pretty sure the Indians had to play on the same pitch as us in the first test, can't remember exactly how many runs both sides made or how many wickets were taken. But I'm pretty sure we were fairly crap in both departments. So far we've had the best pitch conditions in both games batting first as the pitches have deteriorated pretty quickly after the start of play, yet we've still been made to look fairly incompetent.

You are still missing the point.

Test match pitches should be prepared in a way that makes them last the scheduled 5 days

We would still most likely be not good enough but that isn’t the point. If you look at my original post I said that a pitch like this one is not good for the game ! Same as the green top in Brisbane was not good for the game.

Don't believe there's actually a point to miss.
They used to play tests over six days ( there was a rest day ) on unprotected wickets. They also used to bowl 8 ball overs
People have been banging on over the last ten years or so to shorten tests to four day games instead of five because they rarely last five days anymore. They also only bowl 6 ball overs and a hell of a lot less of them then they used to.

Two teams gotta play on the same pitch with the same rules and whatever weather conditions present over the period of the game, adapt and adjust as necessary and may the best team win.

Aust v Sth Africa test, they've got a Green Mamba n we've got a Gabbatoir. Bugger all difference in the type of pitch, both sides have premium bowling attacks, one side has a crap batting line up. *smile* happens.

Simple rule always holds true that the champion teams or champion players adjust, adapt n perform in all conditions.

The only problem is that the BCCI run world cricket not the ICC. The most recent example of that was in the first test when Jadeja was seen tampering with the ball. You might ask what the ICC did about it, nothing......... they fined him for not notifying them that he was applying ointment to his finger :ROFLMAO:
Him using the ball as the applicator was not an issue :ROFLMAO::mad:

The ICC are toothless, they are too scared to be concerned about pitch preparations, and the like, they do what the BCCI tell them to do.
The BCCI are a law unto themselves.

BCCI. That stands for Board of Cricket Control International doesn't it???? Could fix the problem in an instant, crumbling dust bowls world wide to play on. Everything's fair n even.

How about the Board of Control for Cricket in India, aka ICC, the International Cricket Council.

The Gabba test lasted 2 days, great test cricket !!

Let’s move to shorten tests by preparing wickets for shorter tests ? Seems arse about to me.

Is is now but he was much better than that when he started. 10 years ago he was batting top 6 in the Big Bash.
10 years ago someone had him too high up the order. He's a decent no.9, if he's at 8 you have a long tail. Never understand why he bats in front of Starc at times, Starc is clearly superior.

Poms caning Kiwis:

Neil Wagner (lmf)11010429.4528116

Yeah very aggressive morning session, running at about 7 an over. Brook and Pope really took it to the short pitch bowling that Wagner was trying.

I think the plan seems to be timed very well currently (and why I think they've waited on Stokes and sent Foakes out first). I suspect they want to bat for the 2nd session of the day and partly into the final session. Say another 30 overs, maybe another 120 runs (they will slow down with Root and Foakes to try and bat further), to take the lead to around 375 runs and then get to bowling at the Kiwi openers under the lights.

Root out now, in real trouble, Michael Bracewell's taking wickets.
