Everyone blaming the bowling here has it all wrong.

We lost this test in the first two sessions. Huge advantage batting first in what (despite all media reports) turned out to be a 350+ wicket, actually more.

It was pissed away when 2-2 and then by nearly every batsman from then on.

Very easy to bat when you are set a score such as this. We've all seen Warner do it at this stage at home in reverse.

Time hasn’t been kind to Haydos.
There's a lot of similarities between myself and Haydos, I like a drink, a feed, wetting a line, I haven't got the money that I assume Haydos has though.

I do suspect that I'm better equiped in the appendage department though :p

They havent bowled well though leysy. Length is critical in India and we’ve been too full.

On Lyon.

Whilst not an all time great, he really is a fantastic bowler. We wouldn't have won half the tests over the past half dozen years without him.

Who was next? Swepson trying to tie an end down all day while averaging 30 - PLEASE.

The Ashes for a start wouldn't be ours.

India doesn't suit him though. His bread and butter has been beating batsmen with flight, loop and bounce. Hence his great Gabba record.

All similar to the great Shane Warne who, whilst panels better as a bowler, relied on the same attributes to get wickets. He averaged a very mediocre 43 in India don't forget.

There is a very simple reason, you don't get wickets with spin in India relying on your traditional flight, spin and bounce.

You are really a medium pace spinner, you hit the wicket hard and fast, stop the batsman coming forward or back, bowl accurately and use the pitches variation to get wickets. Kumble, Ashwin and Jadeja have made a career from it.

It's why we picked Murphy. He is quicker through the air.

It's the vagaries of different conditions that not even the great Shane Warne could conquor.

So go easy on Lyon. Despite it being a turning wicket, it actually doesn't suit him or his exceptional record.

Completely dominated us all day. Some really poor shots with the bat and then Cummins bowled absolute rubbish.

They need to make to leave Warner out for the rest of the series. He battled in India when he was in his prime and he is well past that now.

What are you talking about Nobets. Lyon was bowling 4-5 kph quicker than Brown.

No they haven't.

Incredibly hard to chase tests though. We've seen how we bully teams at home.

That is now happening to us.

Agree with you re the the spinners coming around the wicket, Cummins needs to come around the wicket and try to stick it right up em.

0 for 27 of 4 for Cummins. He looked about as likely to get a wicket as I am of getting Ana de Armas phone number.

5) 2001 - Indian batting great Sachin Tendulkar was accused of scuffing the seam by running his fingers on it by match referee Mike Denness during the second test against South Africa in 2001. Tendulkar maintained his innocence saying that he was trying to remove dirt from the ball in wet conditions but was handed a suspended one-match ban. The Indian team threatened to pull out of the tour if the decision was not reversed. The Indian cricket board (BCCI) boycotted the third test and fielded a reserve team to play an unofficial test. International Cricket Council (ICC) subsequently said that Tendulkar was not guilty of ball tampering but rather of cleaning the ball without the umpire's permission.

-----------

The ICC will bury this deeper than Gilligan and co buried Carlton and Melbourne's deliberate tanking.
