Good test match in sth Africa.

Have never understood root being rated up there with the likes of kohli and smith. They are light years ahead of him. He always looks like he is about to get out to me. You just need to be full and straight his front foot play is generally poor.

Babar is probably the next best batsman after smith and kohli for me.

When Root is good he’s very good, when he’s bad he is terrible.

You can’t beat a good Root:cool:

Congratulations to Peter Siddle who has announced his retirement from International Cricket.
He has been a real heart and soul player, who got the very best out of himself.
It was a great achievement to be in the squad and then make a good contribution in the recent Ashes series, all at the ripe old age of 35.

Well played Sids :clap2

I thought he was retiring from all cricket, but it turns out he retired from cricket he was unlikely to ever be selected for again.

It’s odd though considering he was just in the test 13.

Would've been some chance to play on his home deck if there'd been another injury, but they'll probably add a spinner to the squad for Sydney. Then two Tests in Bangladesh, where he's never been, and a wait until next summer. And he's only played three ODI's in the last decade.

Probably time at 35 to lower his sights and get a hometown send-off of sorts.

Yes, I think he retired at the right time.
I’ve been impressed with Riley Meredith from Tassie, he has serious potential.

I don't know why the Kiwis dont give the leggy Raval a bowl, i thought he looked pretty good in the Perth test.
Aust 2/165.

Geez it's a weak looking NZ side:

Latham
Blundell
Ravaal
Taylor
Phillips
Watling
De Grandhomme
Astle
Somerville
Wagner
Henry

Smith is a man with very little confidence. Toughed it out but looked labored. Embarrassing to nick off to a medium pacer when on 63. By contrast Labuschane is looking fantastic.

Finally someone takes on Wagner's short pitch bowling, Wade just hit 2 fours and a six off a Wagner over.........hallelujah!!!!!!

Certainly compared to the two (non-)spinners they have out there today.
I wonder what Santner is thinking given he got dropped for them?
Santner was crook, though i reckon he might've made out he was sicker than he really was. He has had an embarrassing tour.

Kiwis have flown under the radar a bit with their foreign-legion approach. When England have done that in the past the media certainly let them know about it.
They have had a lot of foreign-born players play for them lately, five of the current XI alone (although to be fair, Phillips and Watling emigrated at very young ages).
You could even question Somerville's allegiances.

Can't see where they get their #2 ranking from.
Reckon they have flown on the coattails of McCullum, Southee and Boult when in their prime, and Williamson and Taylor.
Not much else apart from the foreigners.

There's a poor Air Quality Forecast for Sydney tomorrow, it will be interesting to see how bad it is, and whether it effects the cricket.

Surprised Australia have declared, i thought they might bat till 30 mnutes after tea. The Kiwi's need 420.
