Now that we are a few years down the track and given our somewhat "colourful" draft history, i am interested to know what people think of the 07 draft. Did we smash it, is the jury still out on Cotchin? He is serviceable, has potential to be a game breaker and brownlow mediallist, but seems stuck in 2nd gear perhaps due to pre season injury woes over the years.

Did we get it right this time? Would you prefer Kreuzer or another who was drafted after pick 2?

Keen to hear your thoughts.

Kreuzer was never ours to take so of the other three yes we got it right IMO.

Right.

If anything it should be a question between Cale Morton or Cotch. Pretty clear we got it correct there. I think we were definitely looking at Morton before the draft.

Kreuzer will be a champ provided he has a good run with his knee in future. Still, I wouldn't swap him for the Chimp. Watch Trent take another step forwards this year and continue to trend up to AA and Brownlow honours in the next few. So much class!

Even though it wasn't our choice to make, I feel that we got the best result possible for our needs at the time, and our future captain to boot.

gun ruckman and awesome but gun mids are better

its like comparing sandilands with judd, id take the impact judd has on game every day of the week

I would take Sandilands everyday of the week.

I'd take Cotchin just ahead of Kruezer, just.
Morton and Masten are B grade players, same with Palmer.
Other A graders from that year are Grimes and Rioli.

4 stars from the first round is not a bad draft.

Given where we were 2007 either player was the right choice.
I'm going Cotchin just. I'm thinking that class running players have been slightly more influential on recent premierships than the talls.

If you could have either one for their entire careers you'd take Sandilands?

No. Pretty sure he was talking about impact on a game right now.

Kreuzer has done more thus far but has had a much better run with injury until he did the knee. I don't think anyone would dispute that what Kreuzer did as a young ruck is very impressive and not the norm for young talls. Also shows traits of being Dean Cox like over the journey. But the Chimp has had no luck and very little preseason. This is a debate to be revisited at the end of this year because I honestly believe that Cotchin is about to unleash a season that will put him in a very different class then what he currently is.

Totally agree on the first part and hope you are right on the second - I hope the Cogs curse hasn't been passed on.......

Kreuzer - Gun ruckmen are harder to find than gun midfielders. Kreuzer has already proven himself. Cotchin has not gotten through a season as yet without getting injured.

would have like to have both of them ..but we have done well with Cotch as have the scum with Kreuzer both good footballers
