Coronavirus

And the situation will keep changing so with that attitude you'll never get vaccinated.

The best vaccine is the one you can get in your arm today.

The reason the advice on time between vaccines and lots of other things related to treatment of COVID-19 keep changing is because it is a novel coronavirus. It is new and the vaccines are new.
I have the opportunity sometimes to listen to briefings from experts on this and the research is constantly being updated. We just have to live with that because the vaccines have been turbo charged and research takes time. The great thing is that not only is the research getting more information the vaccines themselves will get better.
As Angry Ant says it will constantly change. If anyone waits for the end game, whatever that is, they will not get vaccinated for quite a while yet

It’s more unusual to see tradies with masks on than without. I work in an industrial estate and if I buy lunch almost every tradie in the cafe isn’t wearing a mask. Or if they have one it is around their neck. Or their chin.

That’s just not true.

If you look here Australia has one of the steepest increases globally which says relatively we are doing it pretty well (now we have vaccines). You need to compare the slopes of the vaccine rollout. China is slightly better I reckon.

I’m sure there are pockets of excellence that are even better but point to a country that has done what you suggest.

Just an example of how it can be done.
India has immunised 20 million people in a single day!
See PM Modi's birthday on Friday...20 million vaccinated in one day.
And remember India does not have the infrastructure we have and is a beurocratic nightmare.
I recon if everyone got a public vaccination day off work, it would have worked a treat.
Use the voting centres ie schools and halls which would be empty...job done in a day or two.
Repeat four weeks later. Everyone done. A few vax centres to clean up the stragglers.
Supply the issue of course but otherwise, too much fretting about a simple task.

some countries arent even going to accept our vaccines if you want to fly there.
We are ok with UK and USA (go figure) but quite a few countries will decline entry.
Anyway.

Like i said, ill get the jab in a few weeks, but i that time, it wouldnt surprise me if they change the time between the 2nd dose again...or say AZ is no longer safe again.
Its a bloody cirucs.

I was going to get jab months ago (AZ) then they said AZ isnt safe for under 60s...ok ill wait i said.
Weeks later, its safe again.

Unreal.

GPS are still 50.50 when giving advice.

All the vaccines are very very safe and very effective. It makes little or no difference which one you get .
Pfizer has a shorter time to second dose
and four weeks is fine. Time frame not relevant in regard to effectiveness.
It has been more about supply issues.
Bottom line is...a lot of nonsense about a simple matter going on. Just get Pfizer if you can. If can't then AZ is fine.
Seriously, it is a massive beat up about nothing.
You will feel good about yourself once double dosed. You will feel safe and positive going forward.
It is like a smoker who has quit....you will want to encourage others to follow suit.
You will see what a load of nonsense people have been going on about.

It really is bizarre that Andrews only ever mentions the number of people vaccinated via State Hubs. I get its from a political angle, but it doesnt make it any less bizarre.

People have short memories. States were supposed to be doing zero vaccinations, but got involved because of the slow rollout. Yet Victoria has done 1.1 million in less than 5 weeks at a time when vaccine supply was limited. And people still wanna criticise Andrews.

FWIW, the state figures come out by 9am, while the federal figures come out at around 3pm... and people wanna see this data asap. If the DHHS could release the state and federal data at 9am, I'm sure they would. There must be a reason as to why they can't...

Another 45,000 state administered vaccinations today. Probably another record.

A very apt description of how they have been carrying on. For months they have been breaching the regulations whilst being some of the lucky who are still allowed to go to work and earn an income. Go to any site and witness how few wear masks whist working next to each other. Yet they crap on everyone from a great height. A substantial proportion of positive cases are from construction sites. Yet they crack the *smile* because they dare disallowed the privilege of using a tea room for further spreading of the virus. Pathetic behaviour.

Andrews needs to let go of the union coattails and get a sack. Just shut them down for any breach. Or shut them down altogether.

Totally agree with this. It is one of the premier’s biggest issues.
It is also about the developers/builders as well, they have to be stronger with the CFMEU but they need the support of the Government

Take the political bias out of it. I dont have a "want" to criticise Andrews. In fact I have been very complimentary on here about what he has done, so that just doesnt stack up with reality at all.

In saying that, it doesnt mean that it makes it any less bizarre to report on only 50% of the figures. Shouldnt our focus be on promoting 100% of our vaccination rates as opposed to using it for political points scoring?

Regarding the times the figures are released, that argument does not stack up given Andrews' tweet was at 3:24pm. NSW by the way report both State Hub and GP numbers combined in their press conferences at 11am each day. Are you saying that they get access to the numbers 4 hours ahead of Victoria? Doubt it.

`My next door neighbour has a bit of land that he wanted to develop. He was told to wait a couple of years as property prices would go up. 25 years later he is still waiting for that 2 years.

Sorry but this is not correct.

Longer interval between Pfizer doses results in higher antibody levels, research finds

An interval of at least six weeks between the two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech covid-19 vaccine increased concentrations of neutralising antibodies, research funded by the Department of Health and Social Care for England has found.
...
When looking at the delta variant, researchers also noted that, though there were good levels of antibodies after the shorter dosing interval, levels were 2.3-fold higher with the longer dosing interval.

I'll be waiting six, regardless of the urgings in today's HS.

Yes, but there are constantly shifting advices and constantly changing study results.
It is because the vaccine has not been around long enough to know much about it with certainty.
That's why I responded to you previously that statistics can be a lie, not necessarily deliberate, but it is
necessary to take every report with a healthy level of scepticism just now.
Don't accept too much at face value right now.
I very much doubt in the long run that two weeks more between doses will be any different over time.
