Well it got out, not really surprising.
I have said a few times that I would prefer to see quarantine close to the airport but more isolated than, say, the hotel across the road. FFS I reckon tents in Albert Park might be a better option than a pile of rooms, all next to each other, with f*** all ventilation, an air conditioning system shared by the whole building etc.
I reckon cabins in caravan parks would be good, book the place out, buy local produce and lots of people would be happy.
But, they seem wedded to hotel quarantine, so, within the limits of what the powers that be seem to find acceptable, how about this: hotel quarantine only in hotels where each room has a balcony. They keep talking about the need to put people in rooms where there is an exchange of air, put them in a bloody room with a balcony and tell them to open the balcony door.
While we are considering options, there are a few things to remember form this outbreak. There are 13 cases, 13, and that took a few days. The USA would be happy with 13,000 in a day. The cases have so far not gone beyond direct contacts with those who caught it at the hotel, ie: returned travellers and people working there. Now, this is the worry as we can't be sure it hasn't gone more than one person from those in the hotel, but we currently have no evidence that it has. This is the reason for the short hard lockdown, if it has gone further we need to stop it now. Now is the time to try and control it, now is the time for a short hard lockdown. It was a smart move in NSW, SA and Qld, it is a smart move here.
The tennis is a bad look, but they are s*** scared of losing the Grand Slam tournament. When you see all the international travellers in a normal year in Melbourne for the Aus Open you can understand it. I'm not interested in tennis except to see Ash Tiger Tragic Barty win. No idea why they couldn't let the surfers in, it's even an outdoor event.
As for the guy working in the coffee shop at the airport, one presumes he was wearing a mask (that was the rule at the time of the shift), and wearing it properly? If so, the chances of him transmitting the virus would be greatly reduced. I hope he wasn't wearing his mask over his chin or not over his nose.
The nebuliser should never have been allowed - Voldemort needs to get his s*** together and run homeland security better.
