Coronavirus

Indeed, Trump said test less, I said test more.

If anyone read The Age this morning you would see Prof Doherty (you know, the epidemiologist with a Nobel Prize) saying that he estimates the real infection rate to be 5-10 times the reported rate of infection. It's out there, and not just in Victoria.

DS
5-10 times zero tho is still zero.
NSW mite be on the edge but other states look safe. (Tho they might want to re-think their open borders with NSW I reckon, at last for the short term.)

Yeah we did do quite a bit different. We completely *smile* up the management of the hotel quarantine program. That’s the main reason we are getting 150-300 cases every day through community transmission and the other states are getting virtually none.

If the rumours are true Andrews is in a lot of strife if this judicial enquiry is fair dinkum and not a whitewash.

Well reading factual reports rather than rumours it appears we actually did not do that much different to other states. And there's been questions raised about how much of the current outbreak is due to the hotel quarantine. I'll wait for the review results.

Yep no articles about how the bushfires late last year early this year were just bad luck. It was all Scomo’s fault.

Scomo was criticised for his response more than anything else.

If anger stops people doing the right thing then that is on them. Can blame anyone you want for errors that have been made but 'personal responsibility' is a phrase that's never been more important than right now.
Hopefully the majority of the people who are angry will do the right thing. I think they will, they are angry because they care.
It's the DILLIGAF's that are the big concern  They are the reason for the spike in cases, and unfortunately a lot of them aren't going to start GAF all of a sudden:mad:

Victoria will drag every state into COVID-19 crisis
Peta Credlin
Daily Telegraph
July 12, 2020

The Prime Minister said last week that “we’re all Melburnians”. Well, thank god you’re not. I’m here at the moment and it’s a plague-ridden city in a basket case state led by a man who is a lethal mix of political rat cunning, PR spin, unwarranted self-belief and sheer utter incompetence.
someone put Credlin in a basket. I don't think this sort of gutter journalism that promotes hate and negativity needs to be repeated. It's High School rhetoric at best and messes with weaker minds. Please refrain from giving these parasites more platform and power.

The media are turning this into something else. As somebody said earlier on in the crisis, "the virus is only part of it, hysteria is the other."

Agree that it's not helpful. But if you read the HS comments beneath the leaders' appeal, it captures the spirit of the times.

That's truly frightening if you view it World context.

Perhaps he was talking about other countries. The virus cannot survive in a static state; it either multiplies or dies off. Some states have had no positives for two months; it's impossible for it not to spread and manifest itself in sick people testing positive over such a period. The only way the other states are going to come unstuck is through travellers.

O'Brien said recently that his team advises all media when he's going to give a press conference, but hardly anybody shows up. Does Andrews have that much clout?

I bet O'Brien is quietly thanking his lucky stars he's in opposition right now.
Running the show in the midst of a pandemic would be one of the toughest, most stressful jobs imaginable.
I don't envy anyone trying to contain this beast.

As much as I admire and respect Peter Doherty, I don't think he's actually an epidemiologist.

He would know more than most, being a nobel prize winner in immunology (a closely related field) . But it's not helpful to misattribute qualifications.

Agree. She's an awful piece of work. Not sure parasite is the right word though. She is toxic.

Theres a new spin narrative around town from "progressives" for Dans health and wellbeing during this crisis, you know, just like they had for Smoko during the bushfires crisis....

Yep, it’s the meejas fault...... :rotfl2

It's like six degrees of separation in a way, it all comes back to being scomos fault.

Some correctly decry the right propoganda but the recent rubbish on here is just as bad.

I certainly don’t agree with that but again, there were plenty on social media that wished an unpleasant end for Morrison 6 months ago during the bushfire crisis.
