Considering the risk to oldies from this disease, the pokies are the first thing that should be shut down imo

They won’t. Too much money to be made out of this for supermarkets

That is a ******* disgrace. I really hope the stores in those areas stand strong and refuse to serve them. They need to support their local communities not busloads of scavengers from out of town.

It boils my blood as well. I can not believe how soft the global media has gone on the Chinese government in all of this. They knew about this virus at the outbreak and chose to cover it up. If they had have acted when advised it is highly likely we would not be in the middle of a global pandemic right now. I couldn't give a **** about how well they have contained it in their country; the horse has bolted and now the rest of the world suffers a global health crisis and economic meltdown because of their surreptitious behaviour and inaction.

The stores have taken action, at least the ones i know of, as i mentioned, posting security.

I reside in the outer east of Melbounre, and we have some Chinese out here, but not as many as further in, but when the buying started, they were over represented out our way, though there were Aussies and other ethnic groups doing the same, but as i said, Chinese we over represented. The innitial emptying of the shelves is what's probably started this panic type buying.

The problem is that if a lot of our stuff is going over seas, then supplies will always strugle, and this type of buying will not taper off.

Just on 3AW reports of large amounts of goods being sent overseas, now being investigated by authorities.

Just deport those caught doing this. In war time they'd be shot.

I live among one of the largest Chinese populations in Melbourne if not Australia. I have not seen bog roll on the shelves for a month. No doubt it is not just the Chinese that are hoarding products but if anyone is sending products overseas they should be subjected to substantial penalties.

This panic buying and hoarding is *smile*. People need to stop being panic merchants and wake up to themselves. Just buy what you need and there will be plenty to go around for all.

Remember some people have come from countries where there can be no food or other supplies for months, so they may panic more easily.

A reasonable call but don’t think it applies in my area.

They’re all driving Mercs and Beemers and Lexus. No dirty old Fords or Toyotas like in my driveway.

They’ve got plenty.

Plenty of others laws do not to apply on that patch of Southbank...money laundering, smoking indoors, urinating in public space

This is a good article where someone finally highlights the truth about this sordid global health pandemic and economic crisis. The Chinese Govt. should be held to account for their role in this outbreak. They are undeniably complicit in the spread of this scourge globally. If they had have acted to curb the outbreak when they were initially warned, instead of instigating a mass cover up, then I don't think there is any doubt that we wouldn't be facing a crisis of these proportions. The WHO also needs to face the music. It seems they were more interested in politically correct outcomes rather than serious investigation of the situation.

This is an absolute disgrace. Much of the global media are just PC sychophant suckholes. Maybe they should try going after the Chinese Govt. as hard as they go after the likes of Scomo, Trump etc. That's not too say the shouldn't be reporting and criticising the response of all Governments without fear or favour. But it'd be nice to have some balance and spotlight on the actual cause of the outbreak.

Let's not forget how this all started; one of the major contributors was the denial and cover up by the Chinese Govt. The rest of the world is left a near impossible task to clean up the mess.

I don't have a subscription to read that article, but here's another from a US editorial.

It's pretty much saying what i originally posted on this thread, that the Chinese should be made to pay.

Thanks Frick. It's pretty much the same article written by a different journalist; probably even more scathing and forthright. People seem to keep pointing the finger at western governments and there's is no doubt they could have handled it better. But there is one government that is in the main responsible for this pandemic and they must be held to account; in a massive way.

Send them a *smile* invoice for the cost to the damage to our health care system and economy.

They'll return it with the Sergeant *smile* reply.

Maybe I missed a post but I thought this thread was about footy department cuts?

Anyway, just reading about German soccer players taking paycuts to help save the jobs of non playing staff.
Be great if our blokes jumped in and did something similar. (Yes, and I understand everyone has different financial obligations.)

Sorry acc.

I agree!
That’s why I reckon it has to be on some form of sliding scale %.

Their contracts could then be corrected the following year(s) once we recover.

We are suffering in different ways and our financial situations as theirs are, is different.

Certain the AFL community would look at the players in a different light.
