Club Statement

2020 a write off in terms of crowd revenue and a lot else besides - merch sales would be down too I would think and that on the back of a premiership where merch sales go up.

2021 just one bloody great uncertainty.

The club is forced into this. Such a lot will be lost but not much choice. If 2021 turns out better than envisaged hopefully they can put some people back on but who knows if this will be restricted by soft caps and the like.

Such a difficult situation.

DS

It's unfortunate that on the back of a Premiership our merch sales wouldn't have seen the huge uplift that was possible.
Also you can really trade on the whole year with the fact we are the reigning premiers.
Covid19 really screwed us here I feel.

Yeah, I agree. We basically have not benefited fully on the 12 month income stream that normally follows a flag due to COVID :mad:

100,000 memberships couldn't save these Richmond employees - but fortunately the money has been used to fly hundreds of useless AFL executives and sycophants up to Brisbane so they can watch the finals. Why the hell do they need to be there if they haven't been there all year. It was particularly uplifting to see Eddie Maguire's son get on the plane. He'll be doing important work.

Delivering breakfast in bed to Eddie and Nathan maybe?

On a serious note. ... he's kiddin isn't he, but no doubt Eddie knows the question will be asked and he'll have a well rehearsed bit of *smile* to feed us!

Even in the toughest of years you cannot keep a afl exec away from a good jnket. WTF are they going to do for 6 weeks up there that they haven't been doing from home?

Who is in our contingent?

To be fair, I reckon he would be more use than Trent Cotchin's kids.
i know you are being facetious, but i disagree. without Cotchin's kids there might be no Cotchin. without other families there might be a lot more players home, then the season would be a farce.

no Eddie McGuire's kid might mean no Eddie McGuire. Would anyone care?

The wagons circled pretty quickly on that one. :help

Just saying from a purely practical point of view he might have some use while little kids have none. My personal view is having either there is pure indulgence.
No. Infant kids being with their family is logical. Privileged young adults being there is taking the *smile* and you know it.

Snouts in the trough.
Let's shed all these people ( which was perfectly right) but then hey everyone.
Get your golden tickets, meet at Tulla.
We've got a 8 week extravaganza courtesy of the AFL.
REEKS OF SELF INDULGENCE.

Cmon mate, Indulgence would be having your latest squeeze sniffing around. I reckon as a dual premiership brownlow medalist you earn some credits. Particularly when you've got a young family. In my opinion jobs like Brad Scott are pure indulgence.

fiscally challenging times especially next year I feel.
As a club we know how to run on the smell of an oily rag which we might have to again for sometime.
Our success came at a good time but only if we've managed to invest wisely.
Might give us a reprieve for a little bit of time.
But this is not just us It's all clubs.
More than ever for next year we need to sign up as members.
Help those other tiger supporters that covid19 has impacted.
perhaps a program where that as a member you are able to help another member retain their membership next year.
When i was a young kid i became a type 1 diabetic. Flea is also one, i straight away wrote him a letter after being diagnosed & sent it to the club. He responded with a letter back & some Tigers gifts.

Only a few years ago my father called me on a Friday night whilst he was having a few beers at his local golf club, he calls me to say he is drinking with Dale Weightman's brother (could have been cousin) , Dad said expect a call from Dale soon, i asked if he could get him to ring you (Dad knows how much i love the tiges). I said i think you have had too many Dad.

Bout half an hour later my phone rang & it was Dale, just called me cause he was asked to, we spoke for about 15 minutes.

What a great bloke & Tiger legend.
I’ve had similar discussions with the man about the Tigers and diabetes management.

We Type 1 have to stick together.

its not about "circling the wagons", rather pointing out the huge difference between a player having his young family in the hub for nearly 6 months, rather than not seeing them at all in that time (or not joining the hub), as opposed to a club president taking his teenage son up for a month or 2.

Can you imagine life in a bubble? Not isolation or lockdown like we experience. But a bubble where you are restricted but you have the glare of media attention on you. Plus, all you are doing is staying in some bloody hotel room and all there is to do is to hang around, train or play footy - which is your job. Having Trent's family with the kids would offer some mental respite for players and I reckon would be some help in keeping the players a bit distracted which would be good as only being able to focus on footy, or seek distractions like TV and games, would not be healthy.
