Flea was one of those let go today, his work with Club80 and all other supporter group including those interstate connected 1000's to the club, will be sorely missed

I so desperately hope that when the coronavirus is past, we can at least get most of these great people back to the club.

You have to have the players to win flags, but all those off field people make the club successful, and I feel we are losing that critical mass a bit. I am sure the club knows this, but gee, it really hurts when we have finally got ourselves together in a footballing sense.

Terrible news Taz. Heart and sole of Club 80 and of course revered club legend. Been employed at the RFC for years. Hope he’s able to find alternate employment quickly.

Its amazing the lengths theyve gone to this year to stop us winning the flag them sumbitches at the AFL and Fat Ed.

I hate this. I realise everyone is losing money right now but there's no chance many of these people let go were over $100k. Take it from the player salaries to keep the culture of the club going which is the reason I'm paying for both my own and my father's membership – if you're against it, go to Gold Coast/GWS.

The club is going through a restructure. And basically there isn’t much money due to zero gate receipts and sponsors cutting back etc
What will be of interest is the cash required for the other programs that will have to be funded by the AFL Team . .eg AFLW and VFL etc .

VFL teams are so important in developing players to add depth and quality to the senior structures. Underpins the quality of AFL football. With increased teams and shallow pools of quality due to competition from other sports, they run the risk of killing the golden goose should they make the illfeited decision to cut the VFL program and throw players back to the suburban leagues.
Must find the money.
AFLWL on the other hand????

I'm confident that our team are managing things as best they can. I've seen no mention of cutting the VFL program but of course it's an expense and those without contracts are exposed.

Very difficult this. The club clearly has less money, there is all the talk of a reduction in the soft cap. I suspect even AFL clubs run on the smell of an oily rag.

Let's hope things improve, we can get crowds to games in 2021 and the clubs, not just ours, can get back on an even keel.

So what happens to the Redevelopment of Punt Rd?
All that money promised by the Liberal party?
Is the war chest money safe?

Sad to see Flea go.
Was a personal favorite of mine.
When we were *smile* he was the first one picked for Victoria and was Captain too.
Have taken many photos with Flea. He would always stop for a photo. Today's players not always as forthcoming.
Remember the Ch 7 intro to the GWS Prelim 2017.

Flea said: "Came down to Tigerland as a 17 year old. They'll never get rid of me!"

Never say never.

Kate isn’t a coach . Just overseas the entire program . On maternity leave in November by memory . Nathan Chapman ( Pro Kick ) will fill in for Kate
AFLW coach looks liked being filled by someone from the men’s program . Keep in mind Men’s AFL will be more likely starting later in 2021 . For what it’s worth . The restructuring is happening at all club . It will also impact membership packages as well. .Footy will look different next year thats for certain .

Being a temporary cranky accountant here, but had they made the call earlier some money would have been saved, potentially even allowed us to keep an extra couple of people.

Anyway, interesting 18 months ahead. The best administrations will see some clubs come out on top. Potentially the interstate clubs will gain from having crowds.

you would think surely there will have to be some mergers between Vic clubs. And some aflw teams would have to be seriously looked at.

ive never met Kate, but if im being honest with myself and everyone else,

the idea of Flea Weightman in Centrelink while Kate draws a wage in a B&Y polo,

really doesn't fill me with Tigerland joy.

Flea was stood down as a temp measure on 26th March, other staff also were, so no money saved
