The only reason he was appointeda ahead of Ayres is because Ayres wanted a 3-4 year contract.
Hawthorn's No1 choice is Leigh Matthews.
His contract has 2 years to go at Brisbane.
Nothing is surer than Clarkson lasting only 2 years and the Hawks luring Matthews back to Hawthorn at the end of 2006.

I don't claim to know much about Alistair Clarkson's coaching credentials, but I can't imagine it's filling the Hawk's faithfuls hearts with joy and hope. He's not going to do great things for their membership next year either. Glad we got Wallace. ;D

I must admit that I'm not Brendan Schwab's biggest fan, but thank god we don't have someone like Don Scott putting together the alternative ticket at Richmond, he's an absolute nut job.
On Talking Footy the way he conducted himself was attrocious, he'd give Clinton Casey a run on the ego measure.
