Changes

Is Sonsie slowish?
He's certainly not quick. Just like the other kids, he has areas of improvement. If he lacks pace, he needs to run all game and get to as many contests as possible (eg Jack Graham). But he's in his second season so hopefully his fitness will improve

Thinking about this further.

I have a feeling they will rest Prestia this week. 6 day break and harder Marvel surface.

Out: MRJ, Prestia, Mansell
In: Sonsie, Graham, Broad
Ross sub - replace Graham or Cotch

Baker forward to replace MRJ/Mansell

Sonsie to replace Prestia

Graham to rotate high HF/mid

Miller , Mansell. MRJ and Ralphsmith would be out for me and Vlastuin lucky to stay in on reputation. Broady back in a certainty with Graham if fit and I would try Bauer as Jack's support forward

Out: Miller, Ralphmalf, Junior, Mansell and Prestia (rested)
In: Bauer, Broad, Graham and Sonsie.
Sub: Dow

Pickett can play 2nd ruck

More change in store with some of our formerly first choice players sent a message.
In Bauer, Broad, Dow and Sonsie.
Out Rioli M Jr injured, Mansell, McIntosh and Ralphsmith.

B Young Balta Short
HB Baker Bauer* Rioli D,
C Broad Bolton Pickett
HF Cumberland Miller Clarke
F Martin Riewoldt Hopper
R Ryan Taranto Sonsie
I/C Cotchin, Grimes, Prestia and Vlastuin.
Sub Dow.

Shouldn’t drop Miller and just have Delilah as the only ruck
Leave Balta where he is in the backline he’ll be needed against Chol Casboult King

we will need Miller, as many have suggested leave Balta in the backline, Ryan needs support. MRJ & Ralphsmith (injured & needs more time in reserves), toss up between Mansell & Judd, for Broad, Sonsie (if fit) and Ross (must play Ross a head of Ralphsmith, Judd, Mansell). Against melbourne, they had the best ruck combination in terms of marking and physical. Hence Miller, if Balta is to go to Ruck, then Miller in the backline

We get Broad and Graham back this week. Gotta play Sonsie. I think we can live without HRS and Mansell and MRJ is injured.

Our: MRjr, Grimes (rested), Prestia (rested), Ralphsmith
In: Sonsie, Broad, Ross
Sub Clarke

Maybe Mansell out, Clarke in starting 22 and Dow sub- but with Rioli out we cant afford to lose all our defensive pressure in the forward half, and the Mansell/Rioli combo is proving pretty effective in that regard.

Ross was huge in the twos. Have to reward that form.

In Ross Broad Sonsie

Out Mansell Ralphy Maurice junior

B Grimes Balta Young
HB Rioli Flossy Broad
C Short Pickett Baker
HF Bolton Kmac Clarke
F Jack Ryan Cumbo
R Miller Dusty Prestia

Int Ross Sonsie Taranto Hopper

Int Cotchin or Graham

Biggest change is Hardwick removing his head from his ar$e. Selection this year has probably cost us 6 points already. Cumbo missing against Blues and Jack against dogs.

Pretty sure Mcintosh can do whatever Mansell is doing as well as any of the interchange bench. Picket and Kmac are great defensive wingers but we need greater decision making footskills and penetration there as we transition. Mights as well start now.

Not thoroughly convinced by either Ross or Dow, but their performances in the VFL mean they deserve to be picked for the seniors, and that means picked for a few weeks. Give them a go and see how it pans out.

Would you play them predominantly in the centre, as they do in the VFL?

I reckon Ross' strength is in the centre, so yes for him, and Dow I'm less familiar with so not sure.

We need to be circulating players through the centre and we need more variety there at times, they can be part of the centre rotations and swapping to other appropriate positions (don't like Ross on the wing, don't think it suits him, maybe forward).

Ross has had a go. Apart possibly from his disposal by foot Dow looks the better option. Dow quicker and less predictable with a pretty effective sidestep.

You can stream the VFL game if you haven't seen it. Dow does have a very good sidestep, but Ross did plenty of that himself. HE is an improved and refined player, got in the best in his last senior game, but people just don't wan to see it for some reason

Ross is a far better player than Dow. Am still scratching my head at the Ross hate. On Dow, I’m note sure of his contract status but if he is out of contract end of this season he will be very lucky to get a new deal. Just a nothing player
