Changes vs Port

The injury report has Balta 1-2 weeks away. He did this hammy on the 14th May, the Port game is 9th June, 1 week away. That’d be a 26 day break.

It also has Lynch as 2-3 weeks away.

It's not about winning mate. I resent the inference, it's offensive.

As you could see from my post, I was already losing interest before the we started to win. It was the fact something I'd hoped for all my life happened that kept me excited. The fact was, soon after that, as the AFL started changing rules to try undermine us, it became a bit of "oh yeah, that's right. These guys suck at running a competition. I remember where I was now." Shiney new things distracted me from the malaise.

I used to sponsor players in the Wallet and early Dimma eras. and contribute - for me - a significant amount of cash in donations to the club through their fundraising channels. I now have a 3 game membership, and have done ever since 2015.

What I didn't like before we won Premierships, was how the AFL kept manipulating outcomes to try get GCS to win. The way the Demons were having the league intervene, helping them get coaches and administrators in to fix the club. At the same time, we'd struggle for much the same reason as the Dees, and Carlton (mismanagement) but there wasn't a hell of a lot of help coming out way. The reason why 2017 is such a triumph, is that we managed to pull something together in spite of what the AFL were doing.

The Brandon Ellis compensation, the stand rule, the arbitrary rules on the run (Geelong trading away a bunch of first round picks, then having a "reinterpretation" of the rule so they could bring back G Ablett Jr), the list could go on and on. The AFL have tried to limit our success, and they certainly didn't give us as much support as other clubs got to get out of the hole. We made our success, we tried to keep it going. They've done all the could to end it, and at the same time, made the game ugly to watch.

I think I've said a very long time ago, the AFL is a contrived competition, run by a bunch of "old boys" who bury anything negative about them, have too much virtue signalling, I still haven't bought the book discussing the shady nature of the AFL by M Warner, mainly because it would probably make me angrier than I am today. Nothing that is happening today is addressing any of the concerns either.
Give yourself time off. If you find the agony of the AFL overrides the joy of Richmond in the Gale/ONeill/Dimma/Cotch era that's a real shame. Change to either no membership or the minimum package. I'm interstate so most of my membership is a donation to Richmond. Admin of the AFL has always been a bit dodgy but don't lose sleep over it.
Do something else with your time. Take up some hobby. Get off social media.

Oh by all means, I'm not losing sleep over it. I've got 2 kids at a young age, so we go do activities they find fun, instead of me taking them to the footy. Life's fun.
The Tigers get my 3 games and 2 Jnr members so I can contribute something to them staying competitive and to keep my "gold" status.
I just get annoyed by people saying that I'm only feeling aggrieved because we're not competing for a flag this year (or last), like we're unsophisticated folks who just need a win to keep us happy. The malaise with the game has been a long time coming. It was just staved off for me by a couple of years because of the flags. Eventually the lipstick wore off and I saw what lies beneath was still a pig.
The AFL has been taking supporters for granted for a long time.

Noticed many have forgotten George *smile* house pathetic performance against the Swans
Shirley George gets dropped

In Pickett Balta
Out George Tarrant
Agree - given the thread title - George has to be omitted for the Port game.

sorry general...my cheap shot re following winners.
i have read & digested all u said.
i just cant grasp the concept after all the joy they've given us, of disowning them because of what the afl has done.

After being in Melb for the dreamtime game, seeing the no of indig boys in the pregame thing, Seeing Nyoun and Chol on our lists, Seeing Dusty and Stack being given time and space to get their ives together. DIIMMA's role as host famiy. I think the club is doing great things in that regard. The KGI (?), PEGGY ONEILL as flag winning prez. AFLW team up and running. Houli's organisation operating out of Punt Road. Having BENNY GALE working for us.
I hope the AFL appoint a woman to Gil's role. but Richmond supporters have a lo to be proud of. I care not for perceived mistreatment via Brandon Ellis compo. Didn't the Hawks do us a solid with Vickery and get us Shai? Before dissent and "stand" there was "east west" and next year there'll be some new rule.

Post-bye. Real season starts.

Lynch is probably unavailable. Lambo might be okay but do we cotton-wool him until we really need him, which should not include a home game against Poort with an almost full-strength team bar Lynch. Err on the side of caution.

Balta probably available, probably plays forward with Lynch out. Doubles as second ruck, allowing Soldo to go back and find form, meaning Tarrant stays at full-back and we get an extra runner. Dow the deserving promotion. Miller close to taking Taz's spot but want him to bed down his marking confidence in the twos first.

B: Gibcus Tarrant Grimes
HB: DRioli Broad Vlastuin
C: Pickett Short McIntosh
HF: Bolton Edwards Graham
F: Riewoldt Balta Martin
R: Nankervis Cotchin Prestia
I: Baker MRioli Dow Ralphsmith
S: Castagna

George needs a spell but gets the vest because he knows the system back to front and we can shuffle things in case of injury.

Stack not far off, suspect he might have a good game in the 2s off a freshen-up.

I'm 100% in for that team. Looks really good and balanced.

Lynch will be back against Carlton it seems. Lambert, I reckon they'll give him another week.

I'd swing Gibcus forward to partner with Jack until Lynch is back. Cumberland in too as he can play tall and is reliable in front of goals.
Castagna should not be getting a game on 2 handballs. Surely, it's time for the match committee to give others a go to see what they can produce.

Ins: Balta, Pickett, Cumberland
Outs: Tarrant, Ross, Castagna

Grimes Balta Broad
Baker Vlastuin Rioli
Pickett Short McIntosh
Bolton Cumberland Graham
Gibcus Riewoldt Martin
Nankervis Cotchin Prestia
I: Edwards, M Rioli, Ralphsmith, Soldo

Similar boat.

I rarely watch a full game, ill pay attention to players that I have coached and worked with and what theyre doing, ill pop on here sometimes, but otherwise the AFL has pretty much turned me off the game.

I worked at club level in AFL and VFL and NAB League, so footy has been a big part of my life until last season when I just couldnt be convinced to stay on at a club that shall remain nameless.

Anyway.

Balta in if fit. He's a potential unicorn in my opinion

Hope we come to play after the bye this year - it was a disastrous performance (mainly through injury) post bye run in 2021!

Dimma just said this morning that Lynch will "most likely" be available for the Carlton game.

Balta & Lambert both a "good chance" as well for this week.

Also sounds like Pickett will come back via VFL, 1 game in the last 4 weeks... wait and see.
