Changes v GWS

Just saw a repay of Mumford dropping the knees into Merrett. What a weak *smile* he is. They use the word tough but there’s nothing tough about most of the stuff he does. He’s a classic sniping *smile*.
Yep hes a brute its allowed.

Lynch does it and there would be calls for a Royal Commission

With the midfield severely depleted, our talls need to be our competitive advantage.
An in form Nankervis is our Ace in the ruck. Should be waay too good for Mummy or Flynn if they go that direction.

Perhaps we also need to try someone like Chol this week to stretch the Giants undermanned defence.
At Marvel we could really stretch them in the air.

.we're looking slow, small & intimidated...bad combo
ralph for ross (needs gym time for point of diff.)
.jack n tom feeling & playing overwhelmed by numbers...3rd tall option allows 100% effort knowing of backup
ccj /broad/ both a must...reinvigorate!
.nank also inevitably overwhelmed ...ccj IN!
.midfield : dusty baker pickett ..martin not to be wasted in fwd line
.rcd on wing using pace & height

grimes balta asto
vloss short houli
kmac pickett rcd
aarts george rioli
jack tom broad

nank martin baker
ccj graham ralph mancell
emerg ross (specialist)

Cossposting from Tigertool in the Stack thread. Can't read the Hun, but RalphMouf is absolutely right. Our midfield is not decimated (loss of 10%), it's obliterated. 4 of the top 5 mids out now. System is system, but no system can cope with the major loss of parts that we have right now.

If we win this week its gonna be a win for the ages. This is serious kids.

But in some ways it's also good news. The lack of a midfield explains the 10 goal loss to Geelong. It also means when they are back we will more than likely beat Geelong.

.so a midfield of nank martin baker pickett has no appeal?
.shuffle deck...obvious option to me

I agree Olds.

we're missing our midfield, they're missing their talls (Finlayson, Davis, Keefe, Haynes, Hogan)

I really hope we bring in CCJ or Chol.

and I'd actually go Chol in the circumstances; we dont want to exceed the inexperience tipping point.

Id go

In: Caddy, Chol, Grimes + Stack as the Geelong sub (meaning 23 rd man who plays the 2nd half)

Out: sheds, Naish, ross,

if we think of this as a horse race, we simple can not ride for luck.

conservative MC. experience will get the 4pts.

It has appeal but it won't cut the mustard next to Martin Cotchin Prestia.

yes you shuffle the deck, what else can you do? but go in with realistic expectations. The Geelong result was bad but was realistic given the shape of the midfield right now.

With Grimes back and a lack of gws tall forwards, I can see Balta being our backup ruckman.

Thought Nank looked tired and cranky against the cats.

GWS lack of tall fwds will allow Balta to play more minutes in the ruck.

Don't think we'll bring in any talls (even though would like to get games into CCJ).

Dimma will double down on run and field coverage.

Talk that the Giants may play Jake Riccardi back. Only played 1 VFL game back. If they do this, whoever he is on (Jack or Tom) just have to get this guy isolated, we cannot allow a 3rd man up to protect him.

I'm not sure they are that short forward, Hogan likely back this week to replace Finlayson and Himmelberg is forward too. They played Sproule forward last week too.

Just shows our lack of key forwards on the list. Granted Tom & Jack would be hard in years gone bye to dislodge from the team. But the Giants have just lost Cameron & still have Himmelberg Finlayson Hogan Riccardi Sproule that I know off. Our backup forwards are ruck/forwards Chol/CCJ

More I think about it I expect it will be:

In: Naish, Grimes
Out: Edwards, Bolton

Ralphsmith or Martyn to be the sub.

Naish takes Marlion's wing and Marlion plays inside.

I'm kinda leaning the same way. RCD and Ross to play in the middle.

Some posts on this thread way too hard on Ross. I think he's vanilla. But he's still got potential. We need to put him back on the field where he is best suited. He can't be anyone's wingman I'm afraid.

.we can take it as read...the blue print after geelong & melbourne capitulations for opposition?
.go BIG & go BIGGER later (liar scott )
.the gig is up...we no longer rule the speed way & can be got at with size.
.wake up tiges...balance the ledger...3rd tall fwd non negotaiable.

Can't recall seeing a non-cranky Nank.

God i hope we r not so desperate to bring Chol in. Huge liability this bloke. He simply does not have a crack... Caddy in for me and play fwd 3rd tall and Rioli into the middle with Baker at times...
