Changes v Dees

Good ins:

I reckon minis 'tough MC' comment may refer to marlion having a game in the 2s

and mellee and miller might have a rest?

Out: pickett, melee, miller

in: sampo, ryan, shorty, coaltrain (sub)

I still dont know how the *smile* sub works with ins and outs

I think this is a good side, although significantly less tough. Significantly.

Maybe we can get away with being a bit pissweak against The Dees?

Maybe we cant?

I dont mind what we're doing

why do people keep wanting to move Balta. Having a breakout year at Full back and marking everything. LEAVE HIM THERE
I think there's an argument for this week. We have no forward line against a side whose intercept markers are a strength.

We don't have Lynch or Gibcus.

Bauer was our solution, and is injured.

And critically, Melbourne have no one in their forward line for Balta to play on.

I don't think it's a discussion of whether Balta should be tried forward, he's a clearly established backman now, and one of the best in the league. It's a discussion of how do we win this week.

I would sit him on Steven May and say, pretend you're in the backline and take your 10 marks playing off May. Just turn the other way to launch your 60 metre bombs.

It would straighten us up massively to have someone who can take a contested mark to kick to.

The reality is, while Balta's been crucial to the way we've played as a back man, we can't play the way we've played over the last few weeks and win. We will need to be brave this week.

I think its more likely against the Dogs next week but Cotch may miss 1 of these next 2 with only a 5 day break, though it might be better for him to miss next week so 1 of the other boys gets a game this week what with the VFL bye.

I don't know if it is a fact but usually when you are named in the starting line-up you don't end up omitted so think and training indicated Miller stays in.

Cumberland and Shorty in, Coulthard another week as sub.
Out: Mansel and Banks

On paper they haven’t picked a tall forward line so I expect Petty to play forward
Balta will be needed down back

I think we can win this

If we win we play finals

If we play finals the job is minis

Dees defense will do a number on this forward line. Needed to give Bauer another go or play one of Macca, Young, Broad forward. Ryan’s not up to it yet.

It’s a very difficult selection this week.

I would like to see Cumberland, Short and Coulthard come in. One of them replaces Mansell but I have real difficulties coming up with two others.

I think from the extended interchange bench of Sam Banks, Ben Miller, Trent Cotchin, Rhyan Mansell, Matthew Coulthard, Noah Cumberland, Jayden Short, and Samson Ryan the final bench will be Trent Cotchin, Noah Cumberland, Jayden Short, Samson Ryan, or Miller
SUB:
Matthew Coulthard,

2ND OPTION; Dees are short in the forward line, and Petty surely plays forward. Grundy misses imo.
If that scenario occurs could we see both Miller and Ryan not playing?

Soldo rucks and Pickett is 2nd ruck.

The bench would then look like this; Trent Cotchin, Rhyan Mansell, Noah Cumberland, Jayden Short
SUB: Matthew Coulthard

Balta did little when he played forward previously. He's not suddenly going to turn it on. If Balta doesn't play back we lose, he's that important for us there right now. Be brave sure but to me that would just be silly.
