Changes for West Coast Next Week

We're 140 points or so down on Carlton so I think (unless WC is a massive win) that we'll we need to win 2 more than Blues. Their run home is only slightly harder than ours imo. Virtually no chance of catching Geelong's percentage (approx 270 points) but their run home is very tough. Need 2 more wins than them too. Just need to keep winning.

Carlton plays 3 of the top 4 teams, pies, port, dees, also the Saints, GC at Metricon, and GWS who aint no pushover these days. They wont make it.
That's why I said Geelong is more of a worry re % than Carlton, only need to win one more than the Blues which I think we will. Remember they have already played Hawks and North. We will play those teams shortly. Absolutely just gotta keep on winning and % won't be an issue as we are closing in on other teams in the 8.

Also as I posted in other teams' game thread> Good hard-fought win by the Swans.
Now need Ess and Saints to lose and us to beat the Eagles. If that eventuates we will be 1/2 a game behind, the dogs, ess, and saints

Only need 1 more win than Carlton to go ahead of them. A 1 point win to Geelong over Essendon would be handy too.

At times it pays to optimistic! I reckon Taranto, Broad, Balta, Vlaustuin, DRioli, Baker, Martin and even Bolton when he wants to are regularly amongst our best.
Perhaps - but "among our best" doesn't make them guns..............

Indeed they can merely be described as the 'better players' in a team that is 13th on the ladder.......

Lets not believe our own propaganda

Wee put ourselves in this position with early season close loses and our percentage being poor.

That alone equals to winning one more game than our challengers for the bottom half of the eight.

Unfortunately the keep winning is in ‘our control’ and hope others ‘trip over their feet’ while trying to tie their bootlaces.

We control our destiny.

The teams that seem to do well in finals usually have momentum and a block of good wins behind them coming in. If we are good enough to play finals the time to get moving is now. If we just keep the wins coming then finals will look after themselves and we'd be a real threat. Whether that's possible with this group in the shape they're in is debatable.

I'd just like us to make finals to give some of these kids a taste and to give some legends a fitting send off.

Anything else is a bonus imo. There are more questions about Richmond now than answers. New coach incoming. If we do make finals surely McQ gets the job. Remember Dimma left because he didn't think we could get there this year or if we did couldn't challenge. He was probably right so McQ showing he can get gold still from this group in transition would mean we forge on with the same turnover surge footy this club took to a new level and made famous.

I just hope we keep playing entertaining footy and win despite the odds, despite the conditions and despite where or whom we play. That's the new Richmond way and it's bloody awesome.

Run, run and then some.

Id actually rather Essendon beat the cats to be honest.

Essendon have a good draw.. they are making it. Cats have some very tough games, they’re very gettable for us to overtake them if they lose this weekend.

All good in theory but let's make no mistake about it, cats win 9 times out of 10 at home hence why I said hope ess lose. Even if I want Ess to win they are not beating the cats at GMHBA. For us, we just got to keep on winning and we'll make it. We do play dogs and saints in the next month (both of them could miss finals).

ESSENDON Remaining games, I have as 3 wins and 3 losses and one at 50/50

Round 18:
Geelong at GMHBA Stadium (lose)

Round 19: Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium (50/50)

Round 20: Sydney Swans at Marvel Stadium (should win 60/40)

Round 21: West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium (win)

Round 22: North Melbourne at Marvel Stadium (win)

Round 23: GWS Giants at Giants Stadium (lose)

Round 24: Collingwood at the MCG (lose)

Geelong Remaining games, I have as 4 wins , 2 losses and one at 50/50 V Port at GHMHBA

Round 18:
Essendon at GMHBA Stadium (WIN)

Round 19: Brisbane Lions at the Gabba (Lose)

Round 20: Fremantle at GMHBA Stadium (WIN)

Round 21: Port Adelaide at GMHBA Stadium (should win 60/40)

Round 22: Collingwood at the MCG (Lose)

Round 23: St Kilda at Marvel Stadium (Win)

Round 24: Western Bulldogs at GMHBA Stadium (Win)

Think it will be Ralpsmith, played well in the ressies, with 16 disposals, three marks, one goal and Mansell hasn't played for a month.
Ralphsmith didn't play well in the ressies at all. I reckon it'll be either Clarke or Nige, Samson to be the backup

Looks like it’s either Ralphsmith or Samson as the sub as they have note been named to play VFL.

I thought he did ok, gave us good run but as we have seen from Hugo he can spray it. Clarke didn't play, so not sure if he'll be the sub. And Mansell hasnt played for a month. I would be surprised if Ryan is the sub, soldo and Miller will ruck. We normally go small/quick for our Sub.

Hugo Ralphsmith (16 disposals, three marks, one goal)

"He played down back and on a wing and I thought he ran and carried and was able to overlap really well to break lines on occasion. But, we probably could have got more bang for buck from his disposal."
