If the rumours are true, Ross Lyon is soon to be 3 club coach with zero premierships after 13 seasons..
Barrassi is a coaching Icon, that won Flags with the Blues and the Kangas, then failed at Melbourne and was thrust in to the basket of Sydney during their horror stretch early 90s for no success.
Tommy Hafey is one of those icons also that quickly comes to mind (RFC, Coll, Gee). The great Hafey had the ignominy of losing successful Grand Finals to his beloved Tigers in 1980 then the rampaging Blues in 1981. His stint at Geelong after the Magpies yielded nil success,. Then went on to coach without a Flag at Sydney ...( cheers 23.21)
The Great Yabby Jeans like Barassi won flags at two consecutive Clubs nabbing the Saints their only flag then coaching the Hawks to 4 Flags from 5 in their greatest era prior to the Clarkson era. The Tigers coaching stint 1 yr did not bring Yabby any joy.
Robert Walls who coached without Premiership Success at Fitzroy before he got a flag with the Blues then went on to coach both Brisbane who he did get into the finals for the first time and then Richmond who were shell shocked losing Swooper.!
Of course then there Micky Malthouse who is a bit of an oddity as he won a flag at his second and third clubs but failed at his fourth.
Started his coaching career at Footscray for no joy and then took the West Coast Eagles to their inaugural flag in 92 then backed it up two years later in 94. He then went to the Magpies and grabbed the 2010 Flag in a replay after the Saints blew it the draw the week before. Losing the 2011 Flag then being moved on later for Figgy Buckley. Malthouse then moved to his fourth club Carlton and no further Flags.
Malthouse and Barassi both coaching 2 clubs to flags and failing at the other 2.
Walls coached at 4 winning a flag at one in his second stint.
Rocket Eade tasted no success at all 3 of his stints at Sydney where he lost the 96 GF to the Kangas then failed at the Doggies and the Suns.
Rossy has tasted GF defeat at the Saints and at Fremantle.
I don't know if he can get the Blues that far but he also has not achieved the ultimate success.
