You Sir, "were" the Richmond Fotball Club and will be dearly missed by us all.
Condolences to the Dyer Family on this sad day.

Captain Blood,
Richmond's Champion, our Champion.

He will never be forgotten.
His spirit lives forever at Punt Road.

R.I.P Jack
I am too young to have seen any of your games, and the fact that Tigers supporters of any age know who you are, and hold upmost respect for the tiger immortal shows the effect he had on the club and the game.
23 of August will always be marked as the saddest day in Richmond Football Clubs long history.
Lets hope we go out there tomorrow and have a win for Captain Blood.
My sympathy goes out to all Dyer's family, yet his spirit will always live on in Tigerland!!

Captain Blood - The Tiger of all Tigers.

Thanks for your wonderful contribution to our great football club.

Rest in Peace.

RIP Captain Blood
The man is gone but the Legend will live on in every kid that puts on his first Richmond jumper and kicks a ball in a park.
Now is the time to retire No 17 forever.

Jack Dyer was Richmond, is Richmond and always will be. Thanks mate.

Walster you have raised an interesting point here.

What do others think. Should his jumper be retired forever or bestowed on those that are truly deserving.

Never again should players like HUDSON wear this number.

I will start a pole on this to guage the response

I think 17 should be retired until someone appropriate is on our list. Someone special enough to carry that enormous number.

They took the number off Rioli after he tried to transfer to sydney and the deal fell through. Made him wear 27.

Unbelievable decision to allow hudson to wear it. Could only be a decision made by a non-Richmond person.

this saddens me as jack was the reason why i follow the tigers. i really wish the bunch of player we have now playing for the tigers have a good look and play for the jumper, jack was the ultimate team player , he blead for the yellow and black................rest in peace mate...... and remember. you never weaken till the final siren sounds!!!!!!!

Jack Dyer passes away

AFL legend Jack Dyer has passed away aged 89 after a long illness.

Dyer, nicknamed ‘Captain Blood’ for his fearless manner of playing the game, represented his beloved Richmond on 312 occasions in a career that spanned from 1931 to 1949, including premierships in 1934 and 1943.

In that time he won an astonishing six best and fairests at the club playing mainly in the ruck during what was regarded as the toughest years of the sport.

He was also a Victorian representative on many occasions and captained the state in 1941 and 1949.

Dyer also coached the Tigers in 225 games from 1941 to 1952 and was heavily involved in the football media after his retirement. He was a regular on both World of Sport and League Teams on Channel Seven and called football on 3KZ for more than 20 years alongside Ian Major. Together they were known as 'The Captain and the Major'.

He was inducted into the AFL Hall of Fame in 1996 and received legend status in the same year.

That just shows theres a full smorgasboard of clowns at Richmond when they allow Paul Hudson to wear Captain Bloods number.
Makes me sick thinking about t.

R.I.P. Jack & condolences to family.

Would like to see coughlan wear 17, my 2 cents.

I think it is important that we remember that Jack was not only a Tiger Legend, but a Legend of the VFL/AFL as well.

We all at Punt Road End maybe could meet up at the game tomorrow and pay respects to the great man.

Great Idea SMASHA. Wish I could be there, but Vietnam is just to far away. Will be there in spirit.

Be grateful if someone could post about the tributes and atmosphere at tomorrows game.

Will be logging in early tomorrow if the useless AFL site allows to try and get a feel for the mood.
