Bye Bye Jack Higgins!

sitting down watching the last 5 minutes, I had to stand up and clap Higgins, his efforts, never give up attitude is superior.

We have a wonderful young player on our hands.

Yep. Just watching the replay now and that number 13 looks weird in our team. Barely seen it before. Higgo's gonna make it big again since Phil Egan days.

no sign of second year blues that is for sure.. Love him. Could end up one of the greats. will at least end up one of the very goods.

I reckon higlet has flipped the table on the media with a similar kind of touch he uses on field.

Reckon he takes the p!ss out of them already

I dont really have words for how much i love this kid

Looking forward to buying him a mineral water at swannys already

Interesting - I was trying to think of who I should draw a comparison to Higgins to - and I thought it only fair to compare him to other RFC (late) first round draft picks. So that means if I ignore Trent, Dusty, Prestia and Jack R. and Rance as well if memory serves; then he gets to be compared to Rioli (which is where I started), Vlaustin, Caddy, Collier-Dawkins, and of course Lennon & Ellis x 2.

I particularly like the comparison between Higgins and Rioli - both can mark, impact the contest with poise and clean hands and turn half chances into goals. Higgins isn't as quick but his footy sense gets him to the contest well. And both have some incredible goal of the year contributions. Different players but very similar types of outcome.

Nothing like Rioli really , more of a natural midfielder that just bobs up in all the right places has elite reflexes in the clinches able to conjure goals from nothing . Dan needs to continue to develop his game to gather more ball if he wants more midfield responsibility otherwise HF it is

he is the typical elusive cocky goal kicking forward that you hate ...unless he is in your team.

Nah. Not showing any signs of the Tip Rat, Ballantyne or Green just yet, only Colonwood fans hating on him at the moment. Higlet's just a bloody good footballer without any trace of arse hole showing through.

Yeah Ballantyne ....that was the one I was trying to remember.

That’s only because they erroneously think his goal of the year against them was a throw.

Just heard that Jamie Elliott's been secretly rehearsing Higgo's backwards goal through the pre-season....

He’ll break in half if he attempts that. He’s held together by sticky tape and blutac as it is.

It's the smarts that set him apart. Maybe has the highest footy IQ on the list.

The check side from almost straight in front was absolutely the right kick the way his body was going, the snap around the corner he had to fall back to create space to get up and over the pack.

These are split second calls that seperate the good footballers from the really good. Not sure I've said ti on here but he reminds me of Aker. Same shape, same dual sided kicking, same pace.

Not sure I agree there Scoop. Aker was twice as fast and much better kick on both sides than Higgins ( could kick them from the boundary line from 50 on both sides )
But he's definately a very smart player with lightning reflexes and decision making. Hard to compare him to anyone I can think of.

X2.

I dont shy away from the OTT comparisons,

But Aker was very quick and could kick like Shorty.

As much as Higlets gonna be a star, i dont think hell ever do either of those Aker tricks.

I wouldnt mind a bit if he started doing handstands and juggling footys though
