Bye Bye Jack Higgins!

Dud - delist.

Seriously the only knock is he doesn't have the strength yet to stick his tackles and keep the ball in. Damn this boy has upside - glows in the dark. Drop him again Dimma but call it "resting" cause I reckon Mrs Hardwick will be on your back in addition to junior if Higgins gets "dropped" again.

Nathan buckley said on radio ( in a careful way ) there was a perception he can play a bit but may have concentration issues
Also been mentioned a couple of times that some recruiters took a dim view of Higlet dropping out of school to concentrate exclusively on his fitness n skills for footy. Kids come from all walks of life, different situations for them all yet it seems the " experts " still don't understand that they're not all clones n allowances need to be made for the variations.

Dusty the high school drop out, Higlet the high school drop out, geez I wish I had a qtr of the footy talent when I dropped out. I might almost have been a player.

Anyone watch the interview with Channel 7?

Was it just me or was it done in a condescending manner? I thought his schooling/footy prep was covered in his first game, why go over it again? Surely there was enough from the game to cover in the interview.

No, didn’t see it as condescending at all. I thought they loved his enthusiasm.

Didn't strike me as condescending. I thought his interaction with the commentators was great. Higgins is yet to be encumbered by media training and saying the right things so he's good value for interviewers. Honest, no frills, and a genuine enthusiasm for his trade that comes across when interviewed.

Best part about Higlet that a lot of people are missing is that he is actually a midfielder rather than a specialist forward.

I expect him to follow a similar path to Lablett as he puts on some muscle. Good chance he'll be better.

It was conducted by Gil's *smile* brother, so it was stupid and tabloid and obvious, but not condescending.

Two of his goals were the result of reading the ball off the pack beautifully. Definitie mid in the making.

I thought it was a bit condescending, but too be fair to GRB he has led a very sheltered cosseted life where he has probably never met anyone who dropped out of high school. It was funny, watched it with my brother, who dropped out of high school, who said during the intro, 'how's these clowns carrying on as if every kid has to go to bloody uni?, he probably just wasn't much good at school or didn't like it', next thing Higgy says after repeated questions 'I wasn't much good in year 11, got mostly Fs'. GRB looked stunned.

(IMO Gill is the more RB)

I was glad he spoke well and took it on the chin a bit.

That’s the lad, thanks Taz. Milne was a good footballer and a pest on the ground. Cannot comment on his off field behavior.

We"ll leave the off field commentary to Mick Malthouse!

I actually met Hamish McLachlan at the Cox Plate last year and to my surprise he was a great guy and very funny. Taking the pee out of Gil!!
