I don't know why Brett left. I don't care. Good luck to him for the future. His best years were at Tigerland.

No sympathy here. He left us for a chance to play in a Grand Final. His choice, not ours. While he wears a GWS jumper he means nothing. When he retires he'll be welcome back if he wants to return.

Looked devastated, also looks cooked as an AFL footballer.
you would too if you left a team for success only to watch them pass you on the way to a Grand Final. I do feel sorry for him. He did a lot of tough years at Richmond.

Agreed

Was a servant of the club for a decade.

Was the enemy today.

Played poorly.

Left for glory and like danger lost out , so far.

Bad luck. Nice touch by Cotch to run from the bench to seek his old mate.

Thought someone mentioned that Lids and Cotch didn't get along. Something about Cotch getting captaincy over Lids.

Looks no sour grapes from m Lids. Good on him.

I don't want him near our club.

I hope he never comes back as a coach as I don't want him anywhere near our kids.

Felt sorry for Lids. Gave us a decade of high quality service.

Great sportsmanship by the skipper to run across the ground to shake hands.

Yep, no hard feelings for Lids, he just couldn't face another rebuild, but who could blame him, how many has he been through? Having said that I booed home every time he went near it tonight!

They were booing him all around me but I just couldn't. I don't imagine any of us, least of all Lids, imagined we'd be where we are tonight at the end of last season and I don't think we'd be here without Caddy and that wouldn't have happened without Lids moving to GWS. I wish him no ill.

I couldn't bring myself to boo him either.

I'm too pumped to feel sorry for him at the moment but in reality nobody could have predicted this after we got flogged by 133 points in the last round last year.

Of our stars, all of whom were getting toey about where the club was going, Lids was the one looking at his footy mortality, being 30 and struggling with an injury no ageing player would want.

The other question is this:
If he was on our list right now, would he be in our side? He's obviously not fully fit, and his recent performances would have you wondering whether his inclusion in our GF team could actually cost us the game. It's saved us a potentially very hard conversation with a great servant for our club.

At the end of the day it looks like we got pretty much everything he had to give, and now we've got 2 handy draft picks for him.

The first round pick in 2004 will hopefully keep giving for at least another 10 years. Got to be happy with that.

Great post, frik.

I didn't boo him. Great player for the club, shame he misses out even if trading him was the right call in the end.
