Brendon Gale

Who the thoughts of many & can’t speak highly enough of his influence on our club & all the plaudits that rightly come with it. Taken us from the cellar to the penthouse.
The famous blueprint is the stuff of legend.

All that said he hasn’t been perfect.
Hate to bang on about it but the club remaining in gaming is disappointing.

A talented ceo will have many gun admin personnel under him, just not known publicly, when benny came his number 1 mission as he stated was to lift our shockingly low turnover (30million),which he stated impacted every single area of the club,
Couldn't afford to pay Max player payments
Couldn't afford a proper recruitment network
Couldn't afford good facilities
Couldn't afford any decent head admins
Couldn't afford great medical team
Etc etc ,
Well this huge part is still fantastic,we just need a small quality youth injection and luck with injuries.
It's a plumb job.

Ps I remember speaking to our ceo in late 90s early 2000s and what he said alarmed me.
Quote I have a theory, to rise up the ladder u need to nail your early picks I think.
Our club actually didn't know from 1990 until about 2004 that to climb the ladder,u needed to turnover youth and once u find most your list u fill your gaps from other clubs .
Up until about 2004 ish we didn't even have the 4-5 rookie places as we couldn't afford more than 1 or 2 which meant we were turning over 15 to 20 less players over 5 years than other clubs which meant less afl level players found.

Gale keen to lock up Dusty before handing over keys
Glenn McFarlane - Sunday Herald Sun
Outgoing Richmond chief executive Brendon Gale is working towards making his parting gift to the club a deal that could see triple Norm Smith medallist Dustin Martin finish his glittering AFL career with the Tigers. But the man who will take over the Tasmanian Devils as CEO next year says he won't be prising Richmond's list boss Blair Hartley out of Punt Rd. Galesaid on Saturday he and Hartley would sit down with Martin and his manager Ralph Carr to speak about the future hall of famer's football future beyond 2024. "Clearly, we would love to do that," Gale said on 3AW when asked about the club's plans to keep Martin when his monster seven-year deal expires.
"He has been a wonderful player. He has been an ornament to our club. "That (next move) needs to come from Dustin first. Blair Hartley is one of the best in the business. He has a great rela- tionship with Dusty and his manager Ralph Carr. We will sit down in good faith and find out where Dustin is at. "Right now, he is in a good space,so we are hopeful that will be the case (that he stays).' Hartley, who played a mass- ive role in shaping the Tigers' three-flag dynasty, had been linked to a potential move to become the Devils' inaugural talent manager. But Gale said Hartley was too committed to Richmond's rebuild under new coach Adem Yze to consider a move to the Tassie team. "Blair is a really valued
member of the leadership of the (Richmond) football club,' he said. "I know he is really invested in Adem. We have two heads of football, one is more on the tal- ent side and one is on the per- formance side- that's Blair and Tim Livingstone.
They are both invested in the appoint- ment of Adem Yze and (were) involved in that process. Gale, who was the architect behind Richmond's extraord- inary success with three flags (2017,2019-20) across four sea- sons, said he had a number of things he still wanted to tick off with the Tigers for the remain- der of this season before taking on the Devils next year. He will remain living in Mel- bourne next year while taking on the Devils, but he and his wife will "return home" to Tas- mania in 2026.

Question to be asked then is. WHY? Yep I know it's Dusty, but he's been pretty much a shadow of the Dusty champ we all know n love.

Is he carrying niggles, is he carrying brain farts n questioning his reason for playing on, or has he simply been caught up to by father time n got bugger all left in the tank?

Simon Matthews would be the favourite.

Brad Lloyd as a potential one from outside the organisation.
Matthews has been under Benny’s tutelage for some time and as any good CEO does, Benny would have been helping prepare Simon for the role. I believe he is a good operator and with the right framework will develop onto the role and continue the good culture that has been developed.

A sycophant by all accounts. Aloof AFL boys club type 👎

We need a statue for the holy triumvirate - Benny, Peggy and Dimma
Good point Bruce.

But also need to mention Gary March and Steven Wright.
They were the first I believe that started turning the club around.
Deserve some kudos.

Put a forward line of Lynch , Bauer (saw a couple of nice things from him in the 1st half on Sunday) , and improving lefau , Bolton , MRJ and Coulthard

a nice mix of bash & crash , speed and elusiveness

and some of those niggles will melt away

of course that forward line needs better delivery and hopefully it will come from Tarranto , Hopper, McAuliffe :)

winning is an amazing tonic
