Brandon Ellis

Brandon was a big part in our two GF premierships and a minor premiership and if, at his age, he can get a bigger payday elsewhere to help in his long term future then he had no real choice but to take it. He gave his all for the club and team whilst he was with us so should always be remembered with respect.

Not required but played ever game including finals and the grand final?

Huh

Not quite right. He played 23 games in 2019 - missed two.
Having said that he was remarkably durable and ever-present.
In eight seasons, he played 176 games which means he missed only 11 (we played 11 finals in that time).
Only once (2018) did he play fewer than 21 games in a season.
And was he somewhat of a talisman in that we started making finals the year after he started (and he did NOT play in the finals in 2018)?
Regardless of how good or otherwise you think he is, it speaks volumes of our depth that we can suddenly do without someone we have so constantly had in our best 22.

Hope he goes OK up north.

At $625k a year, yes, he was told he wasn't required. Club would have kept him on reduced pay, B.Ellis new it.

Nothing to see here.

Hes a dual Premiership Tiger and Life Member and nothing can ever change that he will always be a Tiger hero forever in history.

Probably could only get half of what the Suns would pay him so not exactly the worst time to leave and go and pocket an extra million or 2 more at the suns over the rest of his career than he wouldve got at the RFC if he stayed.

The club let him know that and if a better offer came he should look at it so he did and he got a very good offer.

Good luck to the lad, best wishes to him for his time up North.

Yep, and he can set himself up for life and help out his family.

Good luck to him and thanks for the contribution to 2 flags.

but it is much harder to find replacements who buy into our ethos and game plan effectively
Not really. This is simply developed through the leadership of the older players, the club culture ingrained into the youngsters as they grow within the team.

Big Bad busling Brando will be back for the premiership favourites this week against the mighty Crows.
He has recovered from calf soreness

We actually miss his hard running on the wing. Forget the occasional skill errors and contested ball issues, but his ability to run all game coupled with Caddy being out against Collingwood exposed us on the wings I reckon. Might have to revisit McIntosh and/or Naish/Balta for these roles. We have to have gut runners on the wing who get back to defend when needed.

Looked amazing today for the Suns & best of luck to him but must be asked did Dimma & Blair underrate his impact & importance?
Hardwick has said previously he underrated Brando's strengths. Maybe he wasn't one we should have let go..
