Brandon Ellis

It was a typical Ellis game, not shocking but definitely not good. The trouble is he is really exposed when the others in the team play poorly. Can't see him surviving from here though.

The only thing I can think of is due to his running capacity, can he tag the opposition's most damaging player. Other than that, happy to put a fork in him.

Not really sure what people want from the bloke.

He is built to cover ground and run all day and that is his role. To do that he can't carry the bulk of most players and he is going to lose physical contests and find hanging on in a tackle tough.

Very few players have both.

How about better disposal?

Sounds like you're happy with every player tonight

Funny how just a couple of games ago, he would’ve thought his next contract would be worth $3 million +

Dimma that you??

Surprised he was down back
Thought Dimma said he’ll be on the wing this season.

You are taking the rinse aren't you?????

No that's how bad we were tonight. He had 2nd most contested possies yet most efficie t disposals by a long way. Made a few typical Eliis errors towards the end of the game but who can you seriously name that was better? Grimes, Cotch, who else?

Made a few typical Ellis errors towards the end of the game? He was weak as *smile* all game, count the important missed tackles, fumbles, paniced disposal.

Who was better - Grimes, Cotch, Edwards, Vlastuin, McIntosh, Broad, Lynch...….

He was essentially playing as an extra defender, you would expect to get some easy ball. Unfortunately when the heat comes on he simply cannot cope. His lack of composure stands out.

I'll force myself to watch the game again but I thought he was far from as bad as that. And most of those names you mentioned had poor games as well and just didn't want to work hard. For me intent should be judged as well and I'm sorry no one wanted to stand up and say hey I'm going to change this. Worst performance of intent for a long time. At least the prelim final there was an excuse for the lethargy.

Then why play him in defence? Strange coaching. Clearly his best football is played further up the field

Time to move him on or delist. One dimensional plays the same manic game as per his first year. A liability in defence. Pure VFL stock.

At the risk of injecting facts, his disposal efficiency (a flawed stat but a slight indicator) was 79.2, 6th for us.

Not at all but I like to see logic in footy discussions.

I reckon your handle says it all.

Treloar 39 possessions last night, Murphy 29 the week before, let him run with them, Ellis's strength is his running.

Don’t know if it’s a compliment or a criticism of Brando, however there’s been a few times his flown back with the flight when he hasn’t needed too, at one point Astbury clearly was telling him to stay down.

I’ve been a critic of Brando at times, however I thought he was far from our worst the other night, his just such an essay target to be whipped

we definitely need to negate dominant midfields now rance is gone and Maybe this might be a chance for Ellis he does have the pace and endurance but not sure if he has the mindset or strength to be a good tagger. Jacob Townsend comes to mind for this role. We definitely need to tweak the game plan now.

Agree Aces

Season not shot but still need to build depth
Castagna was terrible last week play Bolton for the next three games and see how he goes
Give Moore or Balta Jacks role for the entire time he is out
Garth most probably not ready yet but get games into him as well
RCD looks like not ready yet but give Ross a few games as well. No loss if he replaced Weller

Seems like we would have been better of at the end of last year if we had more faith in the second tier do we didn’t play unfit players in a final
