Hello,
Time to rip the bandaid off and deliver a shameless plug...

I'm a stand up comedian (my gf might disagree), and have some shows coming up

Melbourne Fringe Festival (October, but will probably sell out):

Geelong Comedy Festival (October, its the first Geelong Comedy Festival, so important that it goes well overall so that it happens again next year)

And then this week I am playing in Nandaly (Friday 11th), Kerang (Saturday 12th), Warnambool (Sunday 13th) and then at the Espy in St Kilda (Monday 14th)

*If anybody happens to be in Portugal and Malta at the end of the month and start of September ill be playing there too

Would love to see any and everybody there, most are ticketed events (not sure about the Espy gig).

If you want more details and links on buying the tickets:

thanks legends

Went & saw rock band Living Colour (with Extreme) at The Forum on Sunday.
It was a double bill but was there mainly there to see Living Colour (after being a big fan in the 80s & 90s & they didn’t disappoint). Lead vocalist Corey Glover’s powerful range has not diminished with age & Vernon Reid was getting incredible sounds out of the guitar. They played for about an hour playing many favourites & a couple of covers including a tribute to Sinead O’Connor of Prince’s Nothing Compares to You. Personal favourite was ‘Letter to a Landlord’. Was an awesome set. I just wish they’d played longer.
Extreme gave it their all but it was literally a tough act to follow. Former Van Halen vocalist Cherone in good form for a 62 yr old but whilst trying hard they were a bit too pantomime for my liking.
Just a great live venue The Forum. So intimate. Overall a great night.

Paul McCartney at Marvel last night. The man’s a legend in the truest sense of the word.
Nearly 3 hours & 39 songs was remarkable for a man 81 years of age.
Yes the term gets bandied around a bit but as the driving force of the greatest rock band in history it was definitely a privilege to see & hear him perform live.

Saw aging rockers Def Leppard & Mötley Crüe last night at Marvel.

Def Leppard whilst older are still sounding as great live as last saw them 6 years ago on the Hysteria album tour.
Joe Elliot still hit all the notes.
Crüe were quite the opposite. A band that relied heaviliy on gimmickry & backing tracks to get through their set.
Not even women flashing their cans on the big screen at Tommy Lee's request was enough to save their performance.
Vince Neil sounds like a stuck pig & looks so unhealthy.
I did like Kickstart My Heart though. Great song.

As feared, the venue choice was actually ridiculous by the promoter. Could have been half as big & fit the same number in for a far better concert experience.
I last saw Def Leppard at Rod Laver & that was great.
They'd have filled the joint back in 1989..not when the audience is 50+.

Did the Crue Mime again :mhihi

Usually I would be excited for women to bare their breasts. At a concert where the majority would be in their 50's & 60's... not so much.

I was looking to go that gig, but the ticket prices were so expensive and with the expectation that Motley Crue would fail to deliver I didn't go but would have loved to see Def Leppard. I saw Joe Elliott at the Taylor Hawkins Tribute concert (via an awful YT feed) at the LA concert and as you say his voice is still very good. Was the gig sold out?

I decided to save my money and spread it out over multiple other gigs. Going to see Paramore in 2 weeks, then the Foo's twice (Melbourne and Sydney) and just booked earlier in the week to see Rise Against at the Forum which I'm really excited for. I was already seeing them supporting Blink 182 later in Feb 2024, but wanted to see Rise Against twice but wasn't that interested in seeing Blink twice. To get the chance to see them headline and for a cheaper price was great. Its a shame for my kids (13 and 15) who love Rise Against too, but its an 18+ event. My eldest said I should get her a fake ID haha.

They were throwing tickets out for $50 a month ago.

I went to The Living End at Festival Hall last week and it was one of the best ever. Played their debut album in full.

Must be the thing to do, seeing the Cruel Sea play The Honeymoon is over in full at the Palais in early December.

If you're in your 20s the sight of some 50 to 60 year old fun bags flappin in the breeze might be a tad disconcerting. If you're somewhat more matured and gentrified then you're more likely to be more accepting n make subtle allowances, they're still fun bags after all, just a bit flappy instead of bouncy.
