Beautiful Service

The AFL have been kind enough to put the eulogies up on the website (free). Great for interstate people without pay telly. Well done KB and Bobby Davis on their beautiful speeches.

I didn't get to the service today, although my boss was going to let me go. I had my own minute silence at work, and bought the WEG poster from the Herald Sun shop to put up on my notice board.

I wore my scarf today, which has been sitting on the back of my bedroom door for a couple of weeks now, out of protest.

I feel awful for feeling so proud to be a Richmond supporter and that it took Jack's passing to do it. :'(

I was there for the SOS campaign, rattling tins and selling raffle tickets with the cheersquad, I was there the day everyone booed KB when he was coaching and was there when we were spat on by Sydney supporters. I've been through all the bad times, and seen some good times.

But today has renewed my pride and my belief in the club.

Thanks heaps for sharing your memories of the service to everyone who went.

Saw you on TV Rhett. Well done to your old man too, when it comes to good friends I dont think anything would have stopped Kevin from saying his word. Was good the way on Grumpy Old Men last night they were jsut there telling stories remembering his life. Seemed ot make Bobby and Lou all real happy and having TJ and Hafey on there was great too. Have hte tribute on tape that was on aftrwards and will watch that tonight.

A sad day for the RFC but a great day as well as it shows how much the club means to people nad how much Jack meant for people. Perhaps this could be the start of our resurgence.

I watched Jack's funeral last night & it was beautiful....a fitting tribute to such a great man.

Rhett, your Dad's eulogy was really wonderful. It was heartfelt, moving and uplifting...... Well done Hungry!

Bob Davis' eulogy was special too for all the same reasons and for the smile it put back on our faces after feeling so sad. Good on ya Bob!

Thanks to all of you who have contributed to this thread. I couldn't get down to see the service and only caught a couple of snippets that ABC radio broadcast but I was there in spirit. I was driving home when it was announced the balloons had been released. I pulled in to the side of the road and said my own farewell. Passersby probably thought I had lost it but I didn't care.
Again, thanks to all of you for joining together as one big close family.
And Rhett, tell your old man to get down there to Punt Road...we need him, mate!

My sentiments too. If there is anythign us fans can do to make him feel welcome again or whatever it takes, let us know please. Lets rebuild our once great club to what it used to be.

I couldn't make it to the service and after party due to work commitments(just come back from Alice Springs) but this Sunday should be something special and regardless of the result ,I don't think there will be a dry eye in the house.
