That is welcome news. A ripping stat line too. My hopes are still high for Ben but my expectations are very modest.
And the other thing I’ve felt with the Celtics the last 3 years, is that they arent tough enough. Brown and Tatum are great when they’re rolling and the 3’s are coming, but in grindy or big pressure games, they fail too much.Beautiful to see the Lakers beat the Celtics at home without their 2 guns.
The Celtics are iffy as championship material. Defensively soft. Not great depth. And as you suggest no paint game.
Holiday/White the only guys that consistently play D.
Yeh, Chuck didn't hold back. And the other thing I’ve felt with the Celtics the last 3 years, is that they arent tough enough. Brown and Tatum are great when they’re rolling and the 3’s are coming, but in grindy or big pressure games, they fail too much.
Barkley called this out today. He said Brown and Tatum aren’t mentally tough enough and the Celtics lack nastiness. Totally agree. Between that and this ongoing reliance on 3’s, they look questionable again where going the whole hog is concerned.
Fat boy ? Yeah.Doncic is an smazing talent but I cannot remember a less likeable superstar. A bigger sook than James .
My jntetest in ghe NbA is at sn all time low.
Baseball is termed “America’s favourite pastime” but the reality is that NFL and maybe NBA have gone past it - although player salaries, tv rights, franchise values etc would say otherwise. Most media channels and their respective shows and coverage eg ESPN, Fox, CBS, NBC etc seem to have more of a focus on NFL and NBA now too. There is little doubt that the NFL and Baseball are ahead in terms of sports entertainment. Unsure where they sit in the pecking order in the states, if there is such a thing?
Personally, I love the NFL the most, and have done so since the Don Lane days. Great game that hasn't changed too much. They are managing the balance between physicaity and protection pretty well. No room for Prima Donnas in the NFL, or baseball.
I will watch the NBA finals but the regular season is as boring as batshit.
All four - yes please. But only if they’re sure Embid will be back healthy for the finals. Otherwise I’d wait till the off season where their access to additional first rounders and a huge salary cap bonus would see them in the hunt for someone like Mtchell or George plus another big like Olynyk.Anyone who complains about how long the AFL trade period is, and how it could all be done on the last day obviously doesnt follow the NBA!
A trade window of 4 months for about 6 trades so far. And about another 40 to go in the last 24 hours.
Im hoping Philly can get a shooting 4/5- someone who can share the floor with Embiid when he returns, but also play centre if needed. Olynyk maybe?
And another scorer who can defend good wings- thinking Boston. Anunoby was my first pick here.
And Maybe Caruso and one of the Bogdanovics.
Probably wont get all 4, but a combo of those would be helpful. While keeping cap space and flexibility for the offseason- the trade and salary cap rules are bloody confusing!
Bad knee ?Tillman to the Celts is a solid move. A small hole filled.
Perimeter shooters definitely the weakness. Neither Giddey or Simmons have that to their game.Geez - Simmons in the Olympics is challenging even my loyalty. Could be immensely disruptive and affect the balance of the team makeup significantly. He would have to play point to extract maximum impact out of him relegating Giddey to the bench. But if we can find shooters to supplement him maybe worthwhile. No room for Thybulle or Cooks in that team though - which I have no problem with. He rebounds and defends better than both of them put together - which is saying something isn’t it.
