Bachar Houli - بشار حولي,

Was reported for the high contact thing in the last quarter. Appeared to be scope for Houli to be cleared, but you never know what the MRP is going to pull.
he could get anything from nothing to life in prison with no parole such is the inconsistency of the MRP

He is not the most physical player on our list for sure but he goes when he has to imo. I have watched just about every game he has played for us and I can't honestly say I have ever noticed him pulling out of contests.
He is an outside player and the fact that he runs, creates an outlet option and kicks well from halfback is very important to us.
Has definitely been down a little on 2011 form but he hasn't been playing badly.
Well done Bachar on re-signing. It means we are good for a few hundred members every year anyway. :clap

Agree, he doesn't pull out of contests, just lacks the natural agression of a Morris. And is pretty poor one-on-one. This is OK if he has a high enough hurt factor the other way. Can't have everything in one player (OOPS, forgot the chimp), just hope his defensive shortcomings aren't exposed too badly in the bigger games.

I agree, to me he is a natural winger rather than a halfback but we need his run and carry there until we get someone else to do that job.

Much better analysis.
Bachar's been excellent for a PSD selection. Well done on his re-signing.

McMahon butchered the football and made poor decisions, he just had a nice looking action. Houli hits most of his targets. Defensively I'd agree they're similar.

Agree Bachar would be a more effective footballer on a Wing. Has the endurance and skill combination to do well. Not sure why they continue to play him in defence where his poor one on one work is the most costly to the team

Well said. For return on investment he has been outstanding. We haven’t had a player like Bash for a long time. Was the exact type we needed and credit to the club, they went and got him at no cost. Outstanding young man who is a leader and prepares flawlessly for his football. Great news.

The next step is making sure we have a replacement for him in four years time that is ready to go.

Houli makes an odd claim in the interview on the club's website. I find it almost impossible to believe in this professional era that a player could be dropped without being told why or what he needs to work on. Can only assume he feels he was discriminated against at Essendon for racial/cultural reasons.

Perfectly summed up!. Not sure what is troubling Mr Magic, cos it can't be about football ability.

Yep, teams are pulling him back to the goal square where he looks lost.

has been out of form of late, but agree with the decision to re-sign him.

have to disagree. yes they're similar players, but houli is a much better kick and has better composure under pressure compared to mcdud.

just needs some prodding now and again to keep his head over it, go when its his turn.

its not that he lacks courage, its just not his natural reaction.
