Bachar Houli - بشار حولي,

Ive always thought he was a bit soft Sinful hasnt changed thats why i reckon hes better off on the wing as opposed to down back has cost a fair few goals not hitting contests hard enough in the defensive area of the ground.

Gets glossed over a bit by many.

Id rather him get 100 contested posessions.

If he did that he'd probably get dropped for to playing his role.

Poor kid can't win.

Still too soft and my opinion of him re this facet of the game has not changed one iota.

Geez, you are tough. Free player, finishes fourth in the best and fairest before he has played 50 games, is a massive upgrade on those we had playing the role, kicks it better then 95% of the blokes on the list, uses it well and it still itsn’t good enough.

If anything we need another two or three quicker versions of Houli.

Never said he couldnt use the footy he has skill and that stands out thats why hes better on a wing out wide with time and space.

But he also doesnt hit physical contests hard enough imo, thats always been my knock on him and nothings changed in that regard.

Im not the only one of that opinion, it was one of the main reasons he couldnt get regular games at Essendon.

I don't gloss over it because I don't think it's true. He is an outside running half back/ Midfielder and he goes when he has to to. He is no Francis Bourke but every team have the outside runners who deliver well.
There is so much negativity about one loss against a premiership contender. It's like some have been waiting for a loss to drag out all the old negative chestnuts.

Houli more than answered questions of toughness in his development last year. He goes when it is his turn.

We will remain in disagreement then.

I believe he is suspect when the heat is on, simple as that.

Was one reason he wasnt rated by Knights at Essendon thats why he didnt get regular games and i havent seen anything remarkable to change my opinion in that regard.

I have made my point and i will leave it there.

well JH rated him and didnt want him to leave.

why hasnt he been dropped if he is suspect when the heat is on?

Agree he needs to lift his intensity as he goes turtle when the heat is on. Whilst a well skilled player he is one of the few in the league that plays scared.

Essentially what ive tried to say.

Also why id like to see him on a wing with time and space, where he would be quite dangerous by foot.

Your point is incorrect and based on the Houli who started with us not the Houli at the end of last year.

Naturally, it a team that features the human threshing machine, Courtenay Dempsey, in its back-line they can't carry anyone whose attack on the football is not absolute

Houli does what is needed of him. Fills a role and is of value to the team. He isn't meant to be one of our gun players or guys you rely on to lead the way from half-back, instead, he plays a nice creative role where he can just add something to the team when we get better. To call him soft is unfair, you can't just use that term so lightly. There are very few players in the AFL that are soft. Its just some are more crazy then others. We don't need him smashing packs, we need him to run, spread, hit his targets and be accountable defensively. If he does this then nothing more needs to be said (which he does).

Another excellent game by Basher gave plenty or run and kicked a nice goal
Also the Houli falafel stand Before the Pounce at Punt Rd did a roaring trade

I very happy with Houli, but i have risen the bar for him as the role he plays he really needs to punish the opposition when on the ball.
I thought today was his best game this year, including NAB so im happy.

Only criticism I had was that in the first half he was handballing way too often. He has a lethal boot - he must use it more IMO.
