Bachar Houli - بشار حولي,

Couldn’t think what it was called but yeah an ignore function is precisely what’s needed here

Why is that exactly? Are posters being offesenvive (I don't think so) or just disagreeing with you opinion ? Life would be so easy if everyone agreed with you.

Why not post something that blows the unfair criticism of Houli out of the water.

Here is my challenge: So in his best two game in recent times: GF and dreamtime.

Tell me about the IMPACT of his disposal in either the dreamtime game or the GF. Specifics please. Or if that is too hard, which quarter did he IMPACT the result of the game and why?

But if you want to be generic and dismissive, please focus on the reintroduction of the ignore function. I don't want to hear from you either.

Where did this all Australian royalty legend finish in the JD last year?

I’m not mocking him, I’m mocking the posters on this forum who describe him with words that he wouldn’t use to describe himself. He has been variously described as leading our BnF, an All Australian candidate, Richmond Royalty a legend. This is hyperbole and posters should be ashamed for writing it. It would embarrass Houli. Has he won a Brownlow, a Coleman, a Norm Smith, a rising star an AA nomination. Has he won one of the top five award in our BnF, seriously I don’t if he has. He has played 195 games and polled Brownlow votes in 6 with a single three vote. So what can we take from that? He will play 200 games and that is an awesome effort for a guy who is not a champion. But that puts him in the category of Keane not Hart, Bourke, Bartlett or even Sheedy..

Did you even ever see Keane play? Not a champion?
Do you realise he is on our hbf in the RFC team of the century?
Not sure what you’re trying to say but quit while you’re behind. Don’t think anyone has said that Bashar is a superstar but those who claim he is gutless, useless and should retire are clueless and have no perspective. And there’s a few on here.

Don't Argue try reading the thread, there are plenty that are suggesting that he is a superstar.

He is a solid player with some shortcomings and some gifts.

Those suggesting he is royalty or should have won a Norm Smith are over reaching.

Those suggesting that he should be dropped are blind to the areas of his game that he excels in.

I had high hopes for Bachar this year based on his first six games that he had brought a harder edge to his game and his disposals had some hurt factor.

The last five games have seen him drop away in these areas.

I think you’ll find Y&B that most in the affirmative camp are usually defending Bashar more than promoting him! I’ll wager there are more outlandish negative statements than positive. Like you claiming he’s chasing stats rather than focussing purely on helping his team win!!
Secondly if we’re dealing with facts, Bashar did almost win the Norm Smith. Go back to the voting to refresh your memory.
As far as your high hopes go, he’s also coming 2nd in the coaches awards behind only Dusty so don’t feel too let down.

During a Tigers preseason trip to Sydney the following year, Hart had to be rescued by the famously-fit Hafey after getting caught in a rip at a Sydney beach.

Tony Jewell was among other players who also struck trouble and later asked Hafey why he went to Hart, not him.

"Back pockets are a dime a dozen, but there's only one Royce Hart," Hafey allegedly shot back.

Keane was definitively a champion....among back flankers. He may be in our team of the century but is remembered more for playing the most games before polling a Brownlow vote.

Reckon he played his three flags in three different positions - back pocket, half back flank and finally ruck rover demonstrating he was much more than “just” a back flanker (not that there’s anything wrong with that)

A dead set Tiger champion and legend imho

Norm Smith Medal Voting

Norm Smith Medal Votes:

5 judges voted 3 2 1

13 - Dustin Martin, Richmond 33331.

10 - Bachar Houli, Richmond 32221.

2 - Alex Rance, Richmond 2.

2 - Shane Edwards, Richmond 2.

2 - Dion Prestia, Richmond 11.

1 - Jack Graham, Richmond 1.

All five judges on the day gave him votes.
To suggest he wasnt judged in the best players is incorrect.
You may have a different opinion. Good on you but its out of whack with most of the football world.

And our football club rates him highly. 2nd in the coaches votes?

Have you noticed where he directs his kicks? Consistently long and to wings.
All players are highly analysed by the coaching team. And he is highly coachable. Clearly he is doing exactly what they want. Its not kick chasing for Bachars ego.
It might not be what Bill James wants, or what i want. But Houli is performing his role

5 weeks ago both coaches gave him BOG. 4 weeks ago he received 4 coaches votes. 3 weeks ago he received 1 coaches vote in the losing effort against the roos.
he has been average the last 2 weeks.

Yeh I am not his biggest fan but he is having one of his better years. Last 2 games average but would be in top 5 (probably top 3) in our B&F YTD.

At the moment he is our best option as the running HBF. With Stack now in the backline Short will be competing with Houli for that spot and Bachar has him covered right now.

I would have thought that short would be eyeing Ellis’ spot. The selectors will have the the difficult choice between the 25m sideways pass and the 65m kick down the line...

Wrong. You can fit all three in there if they are best 22. Versatility, flexibility.

I have Ellis and Kmac below short and they will miss if need be.

A damning, quantitative and definitive set of numbers

for the knockers.

A brave tiger immortal.

They will feel like Labour supporters did after the recent Federal election reading this.
Deflated and humiliated but, as time goes by, they will quietly regroup and rebuild, whilst collectively convincing themselves that they were somehow duped and could not possibly have lost the debate. The numbers must surely be wrong? Houli just handed the ball straight back to the opposition for Gods sake. They’re stunned that no one else could see this.
But they will return ( probably immediately after his next poor game ) smirking and grinning like Cheshire cats.
Get ready for the next wave of Houli Bacharing

but the Norm Smith voters only looked at the stats. there is only a select few on here who see Houli for what he really is.

I was actually at the GF with an Adelaide premiership AA ruckman, he finished 2nd in a Norm Smith himself I think?

and its an enduring memory how he moaned about Bachar dismantling the crows from HB, pretty much from start to finish.

There wouldn't be too many blokes who understand footy who would question Bachar's influence in the great Richmond sides
