Like all players who retire and come into coaching the punters like us have no idea on whether he will be good or not.

Seemed well respected as a player.

Me.
I don't have alot of players from other clubs I like but Ziebel has been one that I've always liked
I like Pack busters. Players that smash packs and chase & tackle like Hungry dogs.
That's why Townsend is a very special player in my eyes.

Anyone know if the ‘old firm of assistants’ all staying?

We have enough $ so we are just adding to our assistants.

Will Morris still be our VFL Coach?

Who's the best ever Pack Buster??
Brett 'The Birdman' Evans.
He destroyed anyone in front him when he went for a mark..nothing out the rules, just knees and elbows.
Scotty Turner was a pack buster.
Greg Stafford the same.
Players that made team mates feel safe on the ground

The one that probably pips them LZ is:

Lockett
Gary Ablett senior.

If you wanted to park yourself at CHB in front of those guys good luck.

Dermie
Roger The Dodger Merrett.

No.
All the ones you mentioned did it outside the rules.
The Caven incident with Lockett.
The Stkilda kid Bardsley with Ablett.
Dermie on the Hawthorn kid
And Merritt not really a pack Buster, more a body guard,

I remember the day Ablett burst Wayne Johnson’s spleen.

Merret was just a thug, I saw that scumbag drop his knees into Disco Roaches back after a marking contest. The media called him a "tough man" but he wasn't, he was a dead set gutless sniper. I detest the lowlife scum.

Roach had a lot of back trouble for quite while after that.

Ziebell was a courageous and genuine footballer. I'm looking forward to him bringing those values, along with his vast experience of success with North.

A new hungry assistant in Ziebell sounds like a smart move . Knows the game inside out played hard but fair, has his coaching badges I believe so should bring something positive into the coaching team. Zye, Newman and now Ziebell all with new ideas that should freshen up our stale old systems of the last year or two

Interesting that Yze's new assistants are from 2 different clubs to him.
Sure he coached with Newman a couple of years ago but both assistants will come with experience of different clubs and different head coaches.
Its a positive to bring in a wide range of ideas

Assistant at Hawks through their premierships and last two years at the Lions as midfield and stoppage coach.

Highly regarded. Good mates with Yze. Could do good good things with our midfield
Hopefully there is still room for Cam Bruce

I'm curious if Robbie Tarrant was in the picture as a development coach. He was definitely "coaching" during training sessions all of this year. If he wanted a gig I would have thought he would fit in well.
