Well done Tooheys, you sure can make a great thread, it'll get to 100 pages pretty quick!

Best album The Who ever did. Made popular again by that TV show CSI.

Not on this album, but I still laugh at Roger's little, quiet "Who the *smile* are you..." whisper from the 'Who Are You' song in a later album. :hihi

Yeah those Van Halen covers 1984 & 5150 are gold.

That 'Yes' cover is also a ripper smasha. From one of my favourite Sci-Fi illustrators, Roger Dean.
Looks like John Brack did that

Love the Kiss 'Love Gun' one too.

For me I wasn't much into subtlties when it came to covers I liked.
Some others that grabbed my attention over the years.

The Cult - Electric
This cover is over the top. So was the album.

I had this image of Bowie made as a T-shirt a few years back.

Just a great image.

He wasn't a bad footballer, either!

I don't have these, but as Oldie mentioned 'artistic' album covers, here are two skull illusions from Def Leppard and Cher ()

Also Van Halen 1984, still got my copy I got at Brashes the week it came out, the smoking kid, every track a winner...

Yep. Just saw the thread and come in to mention 1984. Ripping album and also had one of the best ever music videos with Hot for teacher.

One I remember viverdly from when I was a kid is the Skyhooks cover with the severed finger. Think it was Ego is not a dirty word.

Black Sabbath Paranoid, all time top 10 record for me. Still pull it out at least once a fortnight. Planet caravan the most underrated psych-rock song of all time (they played it during a break in the third test!!!) Tony Iommi RIP. Love everything about it.

Bit premature on the RIP for Tony Iommi mate, he ain't dead yet

Been buying the Zeppelin super deluxe boxed sets in part for the collectability, so won't play the vinyl in order to keep it pristine. Making do with the 24/192* flac downloads that come with it. Physical Graffiti out Friday...

First LP I ever bought had an enticing cover, and is one of the great live albums to boot. Also the first to feature the familiar "pointy" logo.

Some other stuff I've liked over the journey..

Always liked this RATM image.

Kiss were actually really creative with their covers. Some more good ones.

One I always liked from Soundgarden. Badmotorfinger is a kickass album too.

Damon Albarn's Gorillaz concept of a virtual band was awesome from the cover right through to the videos.

Totally get this thread. I've downloaded a few albums in recent years, but much prefer getting my hands on the physical copy - its just not the same. I too would spend hours reading the lyrics and looking at the art work. Each new album was a prized possession and new releases were keenly awaited.

Still on high rotation..

Had this on cassette and reckon I went through 100's of AA batteries on the walkman listening to it..

Same with this one..
