Agree. Jack is on a hiding to nothing being the AFLPA spokesperson.

He should tell Robbo to get stuffed but he won't cause he wants a media career of his own post footy.

Robbo is just being an *smile* to Riewoldt cause he hates that the Tiges may be reigning Premiers for the foreseeable future.:))

It shouldn't be his fight.
What's Dangerfield doing?
Riewoldt should've just walked off when Slobbo started to hound him about the players wages.
Not sure why Slobbo didn't ask the bloke next to jack about the wage fight, he is a club captain.

Lloyd is a ********, that comment about Collingwood was seriously stupid, one game into a season that is about to end and be called off and he's mentioning premiership favorites what a forehead Ah Ah Ah Ah
What makes it even more stoopid is the fact that the Dogs are widely thought of as the disappointment of the round....
"Premiership favorites" is a fave topic in the media & shouldn't even be a topic till H&A is done. They never learn thier lesson.

The reason Jack is coming off badly is the act he is trying to defend the indefensible.

The stance of he and his colleagues on this is an absolute disgrace.

When footy resumes the first order of business should be to cancel the ANZAC round. These players have no right to any association with the values of the ANZACs.

neither do Essendon

In defense of the players, 7 days ago they were focused on playing a match, so if negotiations began today I’d like to think their stance would’ve been different.

Job seeker requests only surged x20 within the last 48 hours.

It’s a horrible look, but I’ll see what stance they take after these initial agreements expire in 2 months... it’s a confusing time for many and attitudes are changing quickly.

Came here today to say the same thing!

He has finally opened his mouth...

https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/ge...s/news-story/23fb1b36cd64f70f73130333e239f1cb

Players will only take a long term pay cut if they know how much money the AFL has in reserve... So maximising their pay from the remaining cash available
Good luck to the players trying to get the AFL H.O. flogs to deal openly and honestly with them. Gilligan initially cut the season from 22 games to 17 and was more than happy to explain that to everyone but the players at the time.
Year after year the Flogs at H.Q. are happy to shuffle and manipulate adjustments and changes, hide *smile* under the carpet and pretend nothings happening to suit their agendas, while massaging ideas and opinions into place.
Wouldn't trust the *smile* to do the right thing up front any further than I can *smile* against a hurricane breeze.

so when is Gill going to come out and advise he is going to take a 80% pay cut ?? not a good look when you want the players to take a paycut upto 80% and your only taking a cut of 20%!

And he'd be on far more than MOST of the players.
Isn't the AVERAGE pay for AFL players around the $250/300k mark. If so the vast majority of players would be on les than $200k. Rookies are on much much less.

Rather than percentage pay cuts, wouldn't it save more money and be fairer just to put them all on a rookie wage for a year.

I.e. You'll have enough to live on this year, then come back and earn your money.

All depends on what timeframe they are talking. If for example, Gill is taking a 20% annual decline immediately and asking the players to take 80% for the next 2 months, then without any further declines, Gill is actually taking a bigger pay hit than the players.

This may expidate the AFLs decision to call the season off.

Which they should just do, its not going to be real footy nor is it going to be fair or invoke as much interest.

Just write it off and look at a longer more equitable season next year say add another 3 rounds for extra fairness and $$$ start it a wee k or two earlier and axe the Praccie matches.
